Here we are rewarded with fantastic uninterrupted panoramic views of Lake Wanaka, Tiritiri Mt Aspiring and the surrounding Southern Alps mountains and valleys. After lunch overlooking the lake we will head towards the West Coast and to our next destination Franz Josef and the famous Franz Josef Glacier. There will be plenty of stops this afternoon as this journey takes us through lush rainforest and past Blue Pools, thundering rivers, and waterfalls before crossing the mighty Haast River and reaching the West Coast with incredible views over the Tasman Sea. Franz Josef
The Franz Josef Glacier Heli Hike trip is a major highlight and an activity that brings many travellers specifically to New Zealand and with the combination of an exhilarating helicopter ride, jaw-dropping scenery and a two and half hour hike through the most spectacular glacier features, it's really no surprise. Your pilot will land high up on the main ice fall of the glacier, where your guide will help you make the final preparations for your hike. Then you will be ready to explore the pristine features of this incredible icescape. Because the glacier is so fast moving, its features are constantly changing - you might find yourself sliding through a narrow crevasse or between towering walls of ice, crawling through blue ice tunnels, hanging out in ice caves, or witnessing the glacier calving. You can be sure that you're seeing the glacier in a unique state and no two trips are ever quite the same.

This is a guided black water cave tubing trip, where you'll float on an underground stream to explore the enormous Nile River's multi -level cave system's and its stalactites and stalagmites navigating by the galaxies of glow worms! When you exit the underground cave system you'll continue on a fun float through the gentle rapids of the Nile River surrounded by lush rainforest. From Charleston we have a short drive to Tauranga Bay and the Cape Foulwind walkway. This short 3.4km walk is a great wildlife spot and takes you past a Kekeno New Zealand fur seal colony and is also home to Sooty Shearwaters and Kokora Blue Penguins, the world's smallest penguins. Today you will spend a full day sea kayaking in the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park, paddling by pristine golden beaches, through crystal clear waters, and to a marine reserve home to a Seal colony. This is New Zealand's smallest National Park and a destination well known for its wildlife, and kayaking as much as for its stunning natural beauty. This is an awesome day where you will see more of the Abel Tasman National Park from a kayak than any other day trip as you explore some of New Zealand's finest and most secluded beaches from in the coastline between Anchorage and Kaiteriteri. On this sea kayaking trip you may also be fortunate enough to paddle amongst dolphins or Orca for a truly amazing day!

Abel Tasman National Park
A full day of adventure hiking on the Abel Tasman track and canyoning in the amazing Torrent River with jumps, slides, floats, abseils, you name it! All this exciting stuff takes place in a gorgeous granite canyon filled with some of the purest water you can find and wrapped in mind-blowing, unspoiled rain forest. We begin in Marahau and join an exhilarating water taxi ride into Anchorage. From here we leave the golden sand beaches of the coast for a stunning 1.5 hour walk up and further into the Abel Tasman National Park. Along the way the guides will keep you entertained with endless amounts of stories about the history, culture, flora and fauna of the park. At the top of the canyon you’ll jump into your wetsuit, crank your harness tight and pop your helmet on. After a clear safety briefing by the guides you enter the truly remote environment of the canyon. You’ll be jumping, sliding, abseiling, scrambling, floating and ziplining through this canyon for about 3.5 hours.
Picton
This morning we drive from Motueka to the incredibly picturesque small port town of Picton in the heart of the Marlborough Sounds for lunch and to conclude our tour. Picton is where those who are continuing onto the North Island will check-in and board the Inter Islander Ferry for their cruise to Wellington, alternatively there is also the opportunity for travellers to conclude their trip at Nelson regional airport for flights to Christchurch, Wellington Auckland and other domestic airports.

I completely enjoyed the tour led by Ryan, a phenomenal guide and amazing human being. The guy knows everything. We were lucky the weather cooperated since much of the activities were weather dependent, something I did not think of when booking this trip that occurred at the beginning of fall. New Zealand fall can be cool to cold. I was mostly in down jackets while local Kiwis were in shorts when the sun was out. Ryan knows the best places to eat, the fastest routes to go, when to see the southern aurora, etc., basically saved me a bunch of time and energy if I did it myself. I enjoyed New Zealand without the stress of driving a car, searching hotels, and mindlessly searching for a decent place to eat. He did it all and I was grateful.

Great guide (Ryan). Great organisation (Russ & Ryan). Great adventures. This tour was so much fun. We travelled with our older teens and we all loved the daily adventures, the group dynamic, the food and the all the amazing scenery that NZ has to offer. Personal favourites - Dart River jet boats, caving with the glow worms and canyoning. Adventure Junkies did all the planning and so we could just relax and enjoy the adventures and the camaraderie of the group. Thank you so much for making our family trip such a memorable one.

Going with this tour group was the best decision made. If you would like to have a fuss free, thrilling and fun NZ trip, Adventure Junkies is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Everything (from high adrenalin activities, clean accommodation, meals, transport) will be planned and taken care for you. Russ, the owner, made sure every part of the itinerary was well thought out. He was very communicative during the lead up to the trip and made sure our queries were addressed. He was also accommodating with any requests so that we could have the best adventure trip ever. We also couldn't ask for better guide, Ryan. He made the trip just much more fun and memorable. He made sure we well taken care of (he sure does top up snack supplies in the van very quickly) and most importantly, ensured we embarked on our activities for the day safely. He constantly took feedback along our 10 day journey. Ryan even went beyond his call of duty and helped us all with even the smallest things like having insect repellant on hand (man, those sandflies!), and helping us with luggages etc. All activities are multi level (i.e. persons with varying experience and comfort level). The benefit of having an Adventure Junkies local guide with you the whole trip (as opposed to signing up for discrete activities on a self drive journey) is so that an experienced local who knows you better (everyone travels together on the 10 day trip - you'll be sure to get acquainted to everyone) can advise and make sure each activity can be tailored to your level of experience and need along the way. Adventure Junkies is also flexible with the itinerary. If there are additional activities which you would like to try, the team will try their best to fit it in. (Sky diving is highly recommended!) Many thanks to Russ and Ryan and our super fun group for this memorable trip once again!

Daily adventure every day with gr8 food Ryan our guide exceeded our expectations Given if you have done some experiences before you may find some like rapids a bit tame eg grade 3 and under Canyoning don’t go with a large group But with mountain bikes, zip lines , kayak, hang gliders, jet boat, hike , glacier, all easy with family.

I recently joined adventure junkies 10 day explorer tour with Ryan as our guide he went above and beyond to make sure our group of 8 was always big smiles at the end of each day. It really was a trip of a lifetime. If your thinking of doing an adventure tour solo I really recommend it although there was only two of us solo travellers on this tour we all got along really well and was a much more personalised tour compared to a contiki. Russ the owner of the company is always willing to help you out any problems, questions you have are all answered promptly. Can’t recommend this adventure tour enough it was absolutely amazing cheers guys!

Thought the tour was very active and covered a lot of adventure the guide (Ryan) made sure everyone and everything went as smoothly as possible. Nothing was too much trouble and made sure we experienced fully what was on offer. Thought some tours were too crowded, some tame , but never dull. Breakfast, lunch and accommodations exceeded my expectations, along with constant snacks of fresh fruit and drinks. WOULD LOVE TO EXPLORE THE NON TOURIST VERSION 🥳🙏
