• An Unforgettable Trip to Uganda and Rwanda!

  I highly recommend Bamboo Ecotours. I had dreamed of going to Uganda forever, and wanted it to be a truly special trip--Bamboo Ecotours made that happen. From my very first inquiry to my very last inquiry (and many in between) Edison was professional, organized, prompt, courteous, and informative. I was able to modify the standard trip and add on an extra Gorilla Trek in Rwanda with no issues. Thanks to our guide Herbert, this trip was everything I wanted it to be and more. Uganda and Rwanda are obviously amazing, but having a great guide like Herbert during the journey made it even better. Herbert is professional, attentive, knowledgeable--all the adjectives--but most of all, he is fun and a joy to spend 10 days driving around Uganda with. I have been on safari many times to other African countries, and I can honestly say that Herbert is one of the best guides out there. Thank you, Herbert, for making sure that our time in Uganda and Rwanda was unforgettable and absolutely perfect!

  What an amazing adventure! We had the privilege of spending 10 days exploring the beauty of Uganda – and every single day was truly special. A huge thank you to Herbert, our driver and guide, who made this trip unforgettable. He was incredibly friendly, helpful, reliable, and full of knowledge about the wildlife, landscapes, and Ugandan culture. We always felt safe and well taken care of, and thanks to his sharp eyes and experience, we saw so much more than we ever expected. From rhinos and lions to chimpanzees and mountain gorillas – Herbert knew exactly where to be and when! We also want to sincerely thank Edison for the perfect organization of the entire trip. Every detail was spot on – the itinerary was well thought-out, the lodges were great, and everything ran smoothly from day one. It really allowed us to relax and fully enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The highlights are almost too many to count: rhino trekking at Ziwa, game drives in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, chimp trekking in Kibale, the breathtaking gorilla encounter in Bwindi, golden monkeys in Mgahinga, and the peaceful moments at Lake Bunyonyi. Even the long drives were scenic and full of interesting stops and conversations. Uganda is a truly magical place, and we feel incredibly lucky to have discovered it this way. Thank you again, Herbert and Edison – we couldn’t have asked for a better team. • Uganda Treks!

  This was a great experience! We loved our trip with Bamboo and would recommend it to others who like hiking. We did a gorilla trek, two chimp treks, a golden monkey trek, and a hike in the park on our last day! However, I would recommend skipping the Batwa Cultural experience. Our third party guide for that spent the entire time disparaging the tribe - also, we were shown a tarp that we were told a mother and her three children live under. We were there with three other tourist groups. It caused questions as to where the $25/person was going if not to the village. Our Batwa cultural experience lasted 35 minutes rather than the 2-3 hours advertised. Our driver, Amanya, was great.

  Great tour. Our tour guide for the entire trip was named Chance. We had the most amazing Gorilla trek as well as Chimp trek. We were within a few feet of both primate species during our trek. We had amazing videos. Also Chance is at top quality birding guide. We saw the Shoebill, and grey crowned cranes in mating dance. AMAZING! We also saw. lions, lions in trees, a cheetah, hippos, cape buffalos, etc. can't say enough positive about Chance! Edison arranged our tour. He was prompt in communicating and excellent in organizing our tour. Hotels were very good. Some with fantastic views. Food was also very good. We didn't get sick one time. 10 out of 10!

  Just the Greatest!! I contacted Edison for a private tour 10-day for my husband and me. Edison was very responsive, knowledgeable, and flexible. I had previously contacted an international travel agency, and their proposal was over our budget. When we told them it was too expensive, the other agency's solution was to shorten the trip, but Edison planned the same trip for much less. His recommendations ended up being spot on. Fred was our driver/guide in Western Uganda There was never a down moment with him. Always helpful, always knowledgeable, and fun. Sometimes I had trouble with the accent but that was true for me with most Ugandans. I didn't complain since they were the ones speaking English while I wasn't speaking in their language. It was hard to leave Fred and return home I think about our trip every day. My heart wants to return. Maybe I will get there again.

  It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Bamboo Ecotours. They were very responsive, professional and helpful when we were organising the trip, answering our many questions promptly, which was very reassuring for us and took a lot of the stress away. During the tour, everything ran smoothly, as promised and on time. Our driver was excellent and very accommodating. We really enjoyed experiencing Uganda with their guidance, and we are very grateful for having had the trip facilitated in such an efficient and friendly manner.   We had a 12 day tour of Uganda with Bamboo Ecotours. The company adapted to our wishes, answered all our questions before we started and managed to give us an unforgettable experience. Godfrey was our tour guide and we were very happy with him. He is from Uganda and gave us a lot of information about his home country, the animals, people etc. The tour was very professionally organised and we felt very well looked after! Thank you very much!

  All-around great experience and wonderful trip with Bamboo Ecotours! They are professional, organized, responsive, and knowledgeable. An added bonus is they're all locals and can plan trips with a focus not just on the big attractions but also on local communities. The package we did was 11 days and slightly different than the 10-day featured here; they tailored it beautifully for us and we felt it was great value for the money. Edison, the founder, did a fantastic job communicating with us from the beginning, graciously answering all our questions and proactively providing helpful information to guide us toward the best trip for our goals and budget. We had Godfrey as our guide and driver, and we had a great time with him. He made sure we arrived safely and on time, while also adding a local's perspective and insider tips. We were delayed on our arrival due to poor weather, and both Edison and Godfrey communicated with us during the delay, helped us book last-minute accommodations, and stayed in touch with us through the whole delay. Traveling during COVID also added complexity and Bamboo helped us navigate all our requirements and some COVID-related changes that went into place just as we were starting our trip. There were many moving parts to our 11-day, multi-destination itinerary but the Bamboo team handled everything and we were able to focus on enjoying the trip. We highly recommend Bamboo Ecotours!

• The perfect way to discover Uganda

  Me and my wife were travelling from Germany and were looking for a reliable tour operator in Uganda for a 12 day Uganda Wildlife trip. After a long search, we decided to get in touch with Bamboo Ecotours and we are so happy we did! Our first point of contact was Edison, who is running the communication: he answered our questions with a high reactivity and a perfect English (I stress this point because it has not always been the case for us in the past). We explained in a few sentences what we wanted to do and also were we needed minor adjustments to their displayed trip. In no time, did he get back to us with an amazingly done website where you find all the details: tours, stops, daily activities, accommodations (with pictures), meals provided... etc. That website itself answered 99% of our questions! We then continued our exchange as we needed to adjust a few details (such as the exact lodge names within the accommodation range selected: budget, medium, or luxurious) , and Edison was always very quick to react and advised us along the way with full transparency. Once we agreed on the full trip, with received the invoice that we had to pay. I have to say it was very intimidating for us to pay a couple of thousands of dollars to a bank account in Uganda... but we took a leap of faith and did it. I initially faced some issue with a bank transfer as Uganda uses Swift rather than IBAN, so my bank rejected the transfer at the last minute (although Edison told me other customers had no issues proceeding with their transfer). Luckily, Bamboo Ecotours also provide the possibility to make a credit card payment (Xpresspay) - unfortunately the company is charged some extra fees for that type of payment, but given our last minute transfer rejection, this is the only solution we had left. One reason they need an advance payment is because they have to book the permits (Gorilla, Chimpanzee...) in advance - these are non-refundable. In any case. we did not regret making the payment and booking our tour! Once we arrived at the Entebbe airport, we were received by our driver/guide Godfrey. He took us to our guesthouse in Entebbe and the trip started. I can't go through all the details of our trip, but I will confirm what the other reviews are saying: this is a lifetime experience! Incredibly friendly people, amazing accommodations, tasty food (we were offered a lot of diversity as vegetarians) and of course an unforgettable wildlife - this is truly the adventure we were looking for! Godfrey offered us amazing driving skills (the roads can sometimes be very bumpy!) as well as great knowledge as a local guide (culture, people, wildlife, customs, food...). In particular, when driving through big cities like Kampala, it is really helpful to have a someone that can drive ‘Ugandan style’ 😊 . Beyond that Godfrey was always very helpful and flexible with our requests and wishes (for instance when we asked to see specific places like a tea plantation or go through villages). In particular, we have really appreciated how much he supported us towards the end of the trip where we had some logistical complications with the Covid test centers. He coordinated with Edison to find the best alternatives for us to get safely back home. If you are looking for a reliable tour operator with skilled drivers/guides, look no further, Bamboo Ecotours is what you need!
