This tour will take you to not only tourist attractions, but also to nice Japanese-style streets and back alleys. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Many places in Kyoto such as temples and taxis do not accept credit cards. Please be sure to have some Japanese yen ready before joining the tour.
＊On very hot summer days, it is recommended to change to Plan B course, which requires fewer steps and takes you to Chishakuin Temple( a hidden gem indoor temple) and Sanjusangendo Temple(famous for a forest of Buddhist statues).
The cab can accommodate four people. 3 guests + a guide, so if there are 4 guests, two taxis are required.
Important: Guests arriving by cruise ship must be able to travel to Kyoto Station on their own.

Kinkakuji Temple
You can see the shining golden pavilion which used to be the political center of the Shogun(the head of Samurai warrior).It is one of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites in Kyoto.

5.00Our 13 May 2026 private all day tour of Kyoto with Taka was one of the best tours we have been on not only in Japan but of all our family travels over the last several years. It was a combination of foot, subway, and taxi and we saw multiple historical sites, modern stops, and shopping. Taka is very friendly and knowledgeable. We were a family party of three adults. We highly recommend this tour and especially recommend Taka.

5.00We cannot say enough good things about our experience. Our guide, Kumi, exceeded our expectations. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and informative. We saw so many amazing sites and Kumi provided explanations that we would not have gotten elsewhere. She made it so easy to visit all the popular site in Kyoto as well as choosing a great restaurant with food that both me and my husband enjoyed. She was so nice and accommodating too! She took lots of photos of us which was a nice change since we usually don’t get photos together. We would love to tour with her again!

5.00Yoshi gave us a tour of Kyoto that significantly exceeded our expectations!! You can tell he thoughtfully cares about giving visitors an incredible tour. He provided us with great information and historical background about the area. He also provided us with fantastic recommendations to help make the rest of our time in Kyoto special. He was always pointing out different details and explaining the history or Japanese meaning of things, really helped us feel more connected to Kyoto and the culture. I really can’t say enough… HIGHLY recommend Yoshi and this tour!

5.00This is a great alternative to an organized tour. You have the flexibility to adjust the order of the sites you see, the amount of time you spend in each place, and the opportunity to add (or skip) things along the way for a truly tailored experience. Hiromi expertly navigated the city and explained Japanese history and culture for a truly complete experience. She was also our personal paparazzi.... so we have many awesome photos to remember the day.

5.00Great day in Kyoto with Yoko. Yoko is an excellent guide and host. She has a lot of knowledge and information she shared about Japanese culture. We enjoyed going to a local restaurant with Yoko and she was very flexible in how long we stayed at sites. We enjoyed taking the train and bus with her. Strongly recommend this tour.

5.00It’s a long day and a lot of walking. You stop at all of the popular tourist attractions. You get a lot of history and background information. I’m not sure how anyone can just visit these sites alone and understand the how, when and why behind them. Highly recommended tour. Bring money for the taxi, train and subway as well as the attractions.

5.00Excellent tour with our friends. Friendly guides, Mieko and Hide, took care of us and had great insight. The weather wasn’t the best but they had great alternatives that I might’ve missed if it weren’t for them taking us there. Excellent English and knowledge.
