Basilica Papale e Sacro Convento di San Francesco d'Assisi
A holy city for Christians, Assisi is an eternal destination for pilgrims wanting to the see the places where Saint Francis was born, where he worked, and where he died. Together with almost all its surrounding territory, Assisi was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2000.
Piazza del Campo
Siena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This piazza is the heart of Siena. This site revolutionised the idea of the medieval Italian piazza, having no spatial restrictions or conventional shape nor any symbolic balance of secular and religious power. Il Palio di siena è una secolare celebrazione, una competizione tra le Contrade di Siena, e ha origini antichissime: pensate che alcuni regolamenti, tutt’ora validi, risalgono al 1644, anno in cui venne corso il primo palio con i cavalli.
Ponte Vecchio
The evening is a great time to explore Florentine nightlife. Oltrarno, the other side of the Arno, is a great place to walk off your dinner.
Leaning Tower of Pisa
The leaning tower of Pisa is the bell tower of the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, in the famous Piazza del Duomo of which it is the most famous monument because of the characteristic slope, symbol of the city and among the iconic symbols of Italy.

Palazzo Vecchio
Piazza della Signoria has a L-shaped, it is the central square of Florence, the seat of civil power and the heart of the social life of the city. Palazzo Vecchio is the seat of the Municipality. Piazza Maggiore
Bologna is the lively and ancient capital of Emilia-Romagna. Piazza Maggiore is a large square surrounded by arcades, bars, shops and medieval and Renaissance structures such as Palazzo d'Accursio, the Fountain of Neptune and the Basilica of San Petronio. Bologna has several nicknames – la dotta (the learned) and la rossa (the red, for its leftwing politics) - but it is la grassa (the fat) that’s perhaps the most fitting. Food is a very big deal here.
While Venice's splendid decay is undeniably charming by day, it's especially memorable after dark. Near the end of the day, the stifling crowds thin out as hordes of day tourists retreat to their cruise ships and mainland hotels. Then, as the sun goes down, a cool breeze blows in from the lagoon, the lanterns come on, the peeling plaster glows in the moonlight, and Venice resumes its position as Europe's most romantic city.

Basilica di San Marco
Venice is nestled on more than 100 small islands within a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. In this city there are no roads but canals, including the Grand Canal, flanked by Renaissance and Gothic palaces. On the central square, Piazza San Marco, stands the Basilica of San Marco, enriched by Byzantine mosaics, and the bell tower of San Marco, from which you can admire the red roofs of the city.
The Doge's Palace was the seat of the Doge, one of the symbols of the city of Venice and a masterpiece of Venetian Gothic. The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. he bridge's name, given by Lord Byron as a translation from the Italian "Ponte dei sospiri" in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells

Today it is the site of the Papal conclave, the process by which a new pope is selected. The fame of the Sistine Chapel lies mainly in the frescos that decorate the interior, and most particularly the Sistine Chapel ceiling and The Last Judgment by Michelangelo.
St. Peter's Basilica
The grandeur of the seventeenth-century façade by Carlo Maderno makes the idea of the gigantic dimensions of the Basilica of San Pietro, still one of the largest churches in the world. The dome designed by Michelangelo is surprising in size and harmony. Among the many masterpieces, absolutely not to be missed is Michelangelo's Pietà, the work that has amazed for centuries for its technique and emotion.

Pompeii Archaeological Park
The famous eruption of Vesuvius on 24 August of 79 AD caused the destruction of Pompeii and a vast area of the current Vesuvian area, such as the cities of Ercolano, Stabia and Oplonti. The excavations have brought to light a large quantity of finds of very valuable value. In 1748, during the reign of Charles III of Spain, the first excavation campaigns began in a systematic way, with a work that continues to this day.
The irregular and jagged coast of this peninsula, which seems to want to protect from the sea all the colorful houses and characteristic streets, will welcome you and welcome you in what many call a real paradise on earth. Pros: -Dimitri and Patricia were our guides for this trip. Both guides were exceptional and took very good care of us. -hotels were all 4 stars and also very good for the most part. -the places visited that were included in the tour package were all very exciting and historical. Cons -after booking this trip on Viator, I received ZERO information on what the details of the tour. Such as where and when the pick up is, what time the tour ends, what excursion tickets were included or not, what hotels were booked, what time the tour was supposed to end. I had to personally reach out to customer support to find the majority of these answers. Carrani Tours should provide more communication regarding the details of the package. -ALL optional excursions are CASH ONLY. I really wish Carrani Tours would make this more transparent because I would have brought more cash if I knew. Ended up taking a cash advance in Pisa which costed me commission fees. I did not find out it was cash only until day 2 of the tour when we were picked up by the guide. -one major con that pretty much everyone in the group disliked was after we were dropped off in Venice, the transportation back to the hotel was not included. We had to pay an extra €15 per person just to get back to our hotel. This was an optional excursion. If you are going to drop us off in the middle of an unfamiliar city, the transport back to our hotel should be included as part of the tour. -some of the pick up times on the welcome sheet is wrong. On day 8, the pick up time states 7:00Am, we were picked up at 7:30AM. Same thing happened on day 2, bus was not on time. Again, the tour company should do better with communication. Overall, I would still give this tour 4/5 stars because even though there are flaws, we were never left stranded alone because our tour guides were always there to help. for a while, I thought I got scammed because I received no confirmation or communication from Carrani Tours after paying $5800 USD for 2 people on viator. It was indeed a moment of relief when we showed up at the hotel in Rome and the front desk did have a reservation under our names.

The tour was so organized and we saw lots of things in Italy . The only draw back was the tour guide to the north part of Italy ( Lucy]. at the end of the tour she asked for a tip and then she gave us an evaluation envelop and asked us to fill it in and put a tip inside it for her and she insisted that the tip will be to her only if we wish to tip the driver we should give him separately.!!!! After half an hour she passed by collecting the envelopes and insisting to have them back as she said that the company has requested to get them back from her!!. on the other hand the tour guide for the southern part of Italy was so good ( Anderia} . Not forgetting the receptionist Tyara in st Martin Hotel were she got our of her way to give me a room a way from the elevator even though the hotel was full.

Sabrina P, our tour guide from Rome, to Florence, to Venice and in all the cities in between was AMAZING! She was INCREDIBLY SKILLED in managing all the details of the trip, she gave us lots of wonderful suggestions on what to see and where to eat locally, and she made the trip so much fun! The tour company is lucky to have found Sabrina! And I LOVE the tour family I made for the northern part of the Italy trip 3. We had the same bus and same bus driver for the northern part of the trip also I felt very safe leaving my personal possessions and any new purchases made on the bus when we were off exploring another new city during the day. Some thoughts for the northern part of the tour: Southern tour Pompeii, Sorrento Capri. The water was too rough to see the Grotto and it was raining, but Sasha our local guide did an amazing job making it a great day. And the food at the restaurant arranged for lunch was really good! I WOULD recommend this tour. We saw and did SO MUCH! It truly was a taste of Italy.
- it is very go-go-go so be prepared to move hotels every couple of days
- I appreciated the hotels that offered breakfast!
- I liked that we had lunch and/or dinner included on some days, but be prepared that hotel meals are 'ok' and accept it for what it is
- Loved the location of the Hotel Defino in Venice easy off/on when we came back on the bus, there was a store next door to get all types of odds/ends, snacks, wine , etc , and there was a bar a block down that served wine for 2.50 euros!
- The underground metro in Rome is very easy to get around on worked out great to use it to see the sites in Rome that the tour did not cover.
- I took all the optional tours definitely worth it!!! And don't be worried about waiting and booking the optional tours when you get there they only book these once you are there my friend was worried they would not have room but Sabrina books the optional tours after she collects the names of who wants to go.
- Sabrina would share information a couple days at a time this was a good strategy because the amount of information coming at you and the fast pace can be overwhelming. She ALWAYS made sure everything worked out perfectly for everyone so have no fear of that you'll miss out on something just because she has not talked about it yet.
In a nutshell, this was a mess compared to the northern part of the trip. We got a new tour rep and changed buses several times. It would have been better if they explained beforehand that they do a day trip to Pompeii so the day trippers and overnighters like myself take a bus from Rome to Pompeii. Overnighters moved their luggage to a different bus which then took us to our hotels. Then we had a couple of bus changes coming back we went back to Pompeii and a couple days later and drove back with the Pompeii day trippers. I must share...Pompeii was amazing! As for the rest of the trip...they put a few of us in a different hotel as was originally planned which 1 would not hold our luggage in a secured area on Day 10 so we missed taking a tour of the Amalfi coast : and 2 the hotel was not anywhere near as nice as the other hotels others on our tour got to stay in. I was prepared from reading other reviews that the southern part of the trip was very unorganized and they were correct. But, after complaining and showing proof of the huge mess on Day 10 the Italy tour company responsible did work hard to resolve my complaints which I appreciated.

The tour was good. The northern leg going to Venice has a trip director and was very seamless. The southern portion to Sorrento was slightly disorganised. We arrived at the we love rome offices by transfer organised by tour. There was a large group of tourists and various we love love information people. All of them had different information on the bus to Sorrento. We had to queu on three different queus because the guides would look at our voucher and direct us to a bus but the driver would verify the voucher and say this was the wrong bus. It was pretty frustrating.
Generally the food has to be improved in various areas i.e. Florence lunch. Florence hotel dinner was horrendous, Nepal lunch was dried out like it had been waiting for the whole day yet we were not late this rendered it tasteless.
Food in Sorrento was a dream. We stayed at the ....Villa hotel. Food in Anicapri was terrible also.
The Director for the northern portion of the tour was outstanding.
