The Wilderness Wildlife Glacier Experience includes entrance into the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. During summer you'll have an option to include a glacier cruise on the mv Ptarmigan.
Learn about our rich history and see the Ring of Glaciers. This award winning tour can not be replicated by any other service or shuttle.
The Wilderness Wildlife Glacier Experience offers highly trained Guides who's sole purpose is making your vacation memories last a lifetime.

Summer Only Glacier Cruise: Experience Portage Glacier up close on the MSS Ptarmigan. A one hour excursion on the 80-foot ship.
Duration: 6 hours: Departs at 11am. Dena'ina Convention Center. 700 W 7th Ave. We meet 10 minutes before departure.

3.00Only if you love the zoo very much and are ready to go by minivan to see several animals (bison, bear, elk, caribou, wolf, and fox) for 2-hr back and forth. A tour guide was knowledgeable but answered questions and took pictures of the animals for himself mostly.

1.00Unexpected illness. Throwing up and diahrea. Obviously could not attend. No refund . Know not sufficient time to cancel, but unavoidable.

5.00Our Wilderness and Glacier tour was absolutely unforgettable, and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible guide, Hunter. The tour itself was awesome — getting to see bears and moose up close in the sanctuary was such a special experience. The drive through the area was stunning, with vibrant fall colors and jaw-dropping scenery around every turn. The glaciers were absolutely breathtaking, and Hunter really brought the entire journey to life. He was incredibly knowledgeable and had a fantastic way of delivering fascinating scientific facts in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. His tone was perfect — informative, relaxed, and friendly — and you could tell he genuinely loves what he does. Just an all-around great person and an exceptional guide. Highly recommend!

5.00Today, 9/28/25, was a beautiful, sunshiny day for this tour. Hunter was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of history & geology with us. In addition to the animals at the conservation center, we saw mountain goats, eagles, eagle nest, salmon, and a LARGE mail moose walking along the road. I cannot think of a better way to spend a day in Anchorage and beyond! Thank you Hunter!
