Alternatively, a short flight (approximately 30 minutes) provides a bird's-eye view of the Himalayas and allows you to save precious travel time. Upon arrival in Pokhara, also known as the "City of Lakes," check into your hotel and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and stunning mountain backdrop.

Pokhara

Start your day with an exhilarating sunrise drive to Sarangkot. Witness the golden hues paint the snow-capped mountains as the sun rises, creating a truly unforgettable spectacle. Afterward, descend and enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the serene Phewa Lake, the heart of Pokhara. Paddle across the glassy water, admire the reflection of the mountains on the lake's surface, and soak in the tranquility of the surroundings. Kathmandu

Choose to return to Kathmandu by comfortable tourist bus or upgrade to a scenic flight for a bird's-eye view of the Himalayan landscape (additional cost applies). Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can spend some time exploring Thamel's bustling streets for last-minute souvenirs or simply relax at your hotel before your Tibet part of the Nepal and Tibet Tour Package. After breakfast at your hotel, before setting off on a scenic drive towards the Tibetan border. As you leave Kathmandu behind, witness the beauty of the Nepalese countryside unfold before you. Lush green valleys and charming villages paint a picture of rural life. Upon reaching the Kyirong (Kerung) border, complete the necessary immigration formalities on both the Nepali and Chinese sides. This process may take some time, so be patient. After crossing the bridge, continue your journey towards Kyirong town, a small Tibetan border settlement nestled at an altitude of 4350 meters. Check into your hotel (Kerung Hotel) and settle in for the night.

Tingri County

Savor a hearty breakfast to fuel your journey as you prepare to ascend the Tibetan plateau. Today's drive takes you uphill, revealing breathtaking panoramas of the Tibetan landscape. Witness the vastness and grandeur of the "roof of the world" firsthand. Weather permitting, witness the magnificence of the Himalayan ranges, including the majestic peaks of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt. Shishapangma (8,012m). You might also get a glimpse of the Piku Tso Lake, a beautiful turquoise lake nestled amidst the mountains. Arrive at your hotel (Tingri or Lhatse) and settle in for the night.

Shigatse

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Today's journey takes you across Gyantse La pass (5,220m), the highest point on your itinerary. Brace yourself for breathtaking views and the thrill of crossing this majestic mountain pass. As you descend from the pass, you might pass through the town of Lhatse, a major trading center and the starting point for pilgrimages to Mount Kailash. Depending on the itinerary, you can visit the Lhatse Branch Monastery, a significant Gelugpa monastery. Arrive in Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet, and check into your hotel.

Lhasa

After breakfast, start on a captivating tour of the Panchen Lama's Tashilhunpo Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Tibet and a prominent pilgrimage site. Depart from Shigatse and drive towards Lhasa, the heart of Tibet. Your grand adventure concludes today as you depart from Tibet and return to Nepal. The journey from Shegar back to Kathmandu takes approximately 9-10 hours, with a stop for lunch (included) at a local restaurant. Retrace your steps along the Friendship Highway, witnessing the familiar landscapes from a new perspective. Upon reaching the Kyirong (Kerung) border, complete the necessary departure formalities.
