Perito Moreno Glacier
On the second day, a minivan will pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate and take you to Los Glaciares National Park. You'll drive 50 miles along a paved road, flanked by rugged brown mountains and a sparkling blue lake. A local guide with extensive knowledge will provide intriguing insights about the park, which boasts the world’s second-largest icefield, following Antarctica. Upon arrival, the guide will lead you along the 2-mile network of boardwalks that offer breathtaking views of the Perito Moreno Glacier’s massive face. These easy paths are connected by staircases and feature informative signs at key points. If you're lucky, you might witness a large chunk of ice calving off and crashing into the lake. Optionally, board a boat for a one-hour tour that navigates the full length of this impressive 260-foot glacier afterwards. A small bar on the boat serves hot drinks to help you stay warm against the Patagonian wind. You’ll return to El Calafate in the early evening.

5.00We had a superb day visiting Perito Moreno glacier. From being picked up by our guide we were made to feel welcome and she did a superb job at explaining both logistics of the day and some interesting facts as we drove. This was done seamlessly in English and Spanish. The trekking on the glacier was breathtaking. The group was split into English and Spanish speakers with a separate guide taking each group. Getting the equipment (helmet / crampons) was very efficient and we were quickly on the ice. There are plenty of stops to see amazing features and take photos so your legs never get tired. You also stop for a whiskey with glacier ice which was fun. Would thoroughly recommend this experience!
