Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary And Cultural Village
Let’s go on a sacred journey to the sacred grove of Tafi Atome, home of the Mona Monkeys. Experience the over 200 years of co-existence between the Mona Monkeys and the wonderful inhabitants of Tafi Atome. The playful monkeys are wild but often come down very close to visitors. For the past 200 years, the Mona monkeys inhabiting the tropical forest surrounding the small village of Tafi-Atome have been protected because it was believed they were messengers to the gods. In 1996, the village began broader efforts to protect their forest and monkeys, as well as to offer tours for visitors. As a result of these efforts, the monkey population has increased to about 200 and the forest, with its many species of birds and butterflies, has been preserved.
Afadjato (Mount Afadjato)
Fuel your instincts and bury your fears as you experience a new landscape by exploring the routes of Mount Afadja, the highest mountain in Ghana. The top reaches 885 meters and forms part of the Agumatsa range near the villages of Liati Wote and Gbledi in the Volta Region of Ghana, which runs along the Ghana-Togo border.
Wli Waterfalls
After hiking Afadjato, we will continue to the village of Wli as you walk through the forest of Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary on a footpath crossing 9 streams to the waterfalls. The forest inhabits a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies, birds, monkeys and baboons. This is the highest waterfall not just in Ghana but in the entire West African Region. Take a 45 minutes’ walk to the base of the three level waterfall. Dip yourself in the cooling waters of Wli to cool down.

Frank Doe is an excellent guide. He led us on a two-day hiking-tourism adventure from Accra to the eastern Volta region of Ghana. We found him knowledgeable, well-connected, perceptive, adaptable, tireless, fun and open. In one instance he could have improved matters by double checking that our (backcountry) hotel accommodations were fully functional. However, we recommend him unreservedly.

Great trip for anyone that loves hiking, adventure and nature. Frank had great knowledge of the local culture and knew all the best spots to visit. Some of the highlights were the monkey sanctuary, the incredible views from the top Ghana's highest mountain and the waterfall canopy walk. Can definitely recommend this tour!
