In the morning, you will depart Addis Ababa for Awash National Park, stopping for lunch on the way. In the afternoon, there will be the chance to explore the birds and wildlife of the park. Around 80 species of mammals have been recorded in the park and you are likely to see Hamadryas and Anubis baboons, Beisa oryx, Soemmerring's gazelle and Salt's dik-dik. If you are lucky, you may also spot lesser and greater kudu, Defassa waterbuck, warthog, vervet and guereza monkeys and spotted hyenas. The park is also home to over 460 bird species including the endemic Ethiopian cliff swallow and yellow-throated serin.

Day 2 starts with and early morning game drive through Awash National park, as this is the best time of day to see many of the park's mammal species. Leaving Awash, you'll head to the town of Bishoftu for lunch, where you can relax by the lakeside and admire the spectacular volcanic scenery. After lunch, there will be the opportunity to explore more of Bishoftu's lakes and look for flamingos, African spoonbills and other water birds, before returning to Addis Ababa in the late afternoon.

5.00I recently had a wonderful 2-day trip to Awash National Park with Danakil Depression Tours, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the beginning, the team was very professional, friendly, and well organized. Our guide was knowledgeable about the park’s wildlife, landscapes, and local culture, which made the trip both enjoyable and educational. The journey from Addis Ababa was comfortable, and everything was arranged smoothly. During the tour we explored the beautiful Awash Falls, where the powerful waterfall creates an amazing view and a perfect place for photos. We also had the chance to see several animals such as oryx, baboons, warthogs, and many bird species while driving through the park. The landscapes of volcanic plains, acacia woodland, and the Awash River make this park truly unique. The overnight stay near the park was peaceful and gave us the opportunity to enjoy the quiet nature and even see wildlife around the lodge area. On the second day, we continued exploring different parts of the park and learning more about the ecosystem. Overall, this 2-day trip was perfectly organized and a great way to experience one of Ethiopia’s beautiful national parks. I highly recommend Danakil Depression Tours to anyone looking for a reliable and professional tour company in Ethiopia. It was a memorable adventure, and I would definitely travel with them again
