Akagera National Park
After your breakfast, our driver-guide will come to pick you up from the airport or at your hotel/residence in Kigali. Then, you'll drive for a good 2 hours and 30 minutes heading to Eastern province. You'll reach the park reception, register from the park reception, and go to check in at your booked hotel. You'll have your lunch. Afterward, our driver-guide will take you for an afternoon game drive. After that game drive, you will get ready for a boat trip at Lake Ihema to explore aquatic species such as hippos, crocodiles, and many water birds like, Cormorants, African fish eagles, kingfishers, African darters. After a good 1 hour 30 minutes of the boat trip, the driver-guide will bring you back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Ruzizi tented lodge

In the morning, after your breakfast at your lodge, with your packed lunch, a Lion Safaris driver-guide will come to pick you up. You'll go for a full-day game drive from the south of the park up to the north of the park where there are very open and flat plains(Kilala and Muhana). You'll enjoy your picnic lunch at one of the picnic points and at the same time watch animals as well. After enjoying the game drive, the driver-guide will continue with you up to the exit. Then, you'll drive back to Kigali and be dropped off at your hotel/residence or the airport for your flight back home. This is the end of your 2-day trip in Akagera National Park with Lion Safaris.

4.00We did the tour in the Akagera Park first with our guide Joël. A few days later, we went to the Nyungwe forest with our guide Alyssa. Both our guides were perfect: kind, helpful, very professional. Unfortunately, un like their boss, Émile. We couldn t but notice that once we had paid for the 1st safari, the Akagera one, that he simply ignored our messages asking for information about the organization of the 2nd one, which was not satisfactory. Safaris are an extremely expensive experience, and the least the company can do is answer their customers requests. The highly professional services of both elyssa and Joel indeed added value to our trip, we most sincerely thank them for that.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our experience as a family of four. We had the jeep to ourselves and a friendly experienced driver named Dany. It's a lot of driving to find the animals in their natural habitat so be prepared to be patient. The most memorable experience was an elephant crossing the road right in front of us. But there were lots of wow moments. The night safari was fun but we didn't see many animals, however there was a big storm brewing and it has already started raining so this likely had an impact. During the day we saw, hippos, crocs, white rhino, baboon, giraffes, elephant, lion, warthog, waterback deer, and zebras ( others too) The hippos are plentiful and fun to watch
