• Wonderful experience with Simas

  We had a really wonderful tour with Simas. We had just a half day in Siauliai and Simas was there waiting for us when we got off the bus from Jelgava. He took us to the Hill of Crosses and did a nice walk around the site, explaining everything we saw and pointing out some of the interesting crucifixes he's noticed in his many visits there. He left us plenty of time to walk around by ourselves as well. After the tour, he did a round-about trip to the train station, hitting some of the local points of interest around Siauliai. At the train station, he helped arrange for storage for our luggage and made sure we knew what to expect when catching our evening train. He then dropped us off in the central part of town so we could do some exploring and grab a bite to eat. We felt so well taken care of by Simas. He's a wonderful and thoughtful guide and has a lot of pride in his hometown and clearly strives to look after his clients. Highly recommended!

  What a brilliant experience! I am so glad that I booked this tour with Simas. It was everything I hoped for and more! I contacted Simas via his website and we had fixed a date for the tour within hours. On the day, I took the train from Vilnius to Šiauliai and Simas met me at the station. As a solo female traveller, I very much appreciated the fact that Simas told me in advance what car he would be driving and how to recognise him at the station. (Šiauliai is by no means unsafe - but when you're organising trips online, safety details like this are great.) During the drive to the Hill of Crosses, I learnt lots about the area. Simas then took me around the Hill of Crosses and pointed out features I would never have seen on my own and provided excellent context. I was then given all the time I wanted to discover the site on my own. I never felt rushed and, having learnt from Simas about the site first, I could (re)visit areas of particular interest. Afterwards, you can be taken to a drop-off point of your choice. I HIGHLY recommend taking up Simas' offer of an orientation drive around Šiauliai. He drove me round the town and pointed out not only locations and great tips for the afternoon, but details I would never, ever have spotted on my own (for example, architectural points). I visited the (very helpful) tourist information afterwards and they have great maps and leaflets - but there were details from Simas' that weren't in the literature. (As an aside, the Lonely Planet guide is no help at all.) The tour is exceptionally good value. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Simas!

  Simon is a wonderful guide. He tells stories of the place and of the different crosses. Response time to inquiries is also fast.

  I joined the tour with my sister. The guide is very kind and polite. He picked us up at bus terminal and dropped us where we requested(in town). We learned about the town also the history of the hill. ２hour is long enough to enjoy. And of course, very safe if you are solo or female. We highly recommend this tour especially if you have limited time.

  The car KIA was clean and comfortable. Simas drove really well, despite this trip involving a lot of time on the road. Simas took good care of me, very knowledgeable . Both sites are beautiful, in very different ways. I highly recommend!

  He helped us book train tickets and then he picked us up when we arrived, very well read and good English. He even gave us a tour of the city and then dropped us off where we wanted after the tour. Highly recommended!!!

  Our guide Simon is friendly and he has great knowledge about this area and Lithuanian history. He told us the stories behind each cross. I had a great time in the tour.

  Thanks to our guide Mr. Simas, we were able to experience the amazing hill of crosses tour. He listened to my weird English and also spoke slowly when he spoke, so you don't have to be good at English to join (though English is best) There were a lot of things I wouldn't have known if I'd gone on my own by telling me about the history and recent situation of Cross Hill. He also told me about the city of Šiauliai and took me to St. Peter and Paul's Church. His car will take you to the parking lot on Cross Hill, so if you have luggage or don't want to walk in the hot weather, it's a good idea. It was also good that the response was quick.

  The guide was great! He is so competent and has a huge knowledge. Also he is spontaneous and adapts your needs. I liked that very much. Keep it up!
