Hualien City
Sakur Trail,According to historical documents and oral accounts, in the early years, the area around was abundant with Formosan alder trees, locally referred to as "Formosan alder feet." The Amis tribe called it "Sakur" . During the Japanese colonial era, when place names were being established, the area was renamed Sakura, pronounced as "Sakura" in Japanese kanji characters. In 2007, after the local residents officially named it the "Sakiraya Tribe," the people of the tribe chose to name it "Sakur." The "Sakur Trail" is a suburban trail constructed using natural ecological methods, suitable for people of all ages. It is approximately 1.35 kilometers in length, taking about 40 to 60 minutes to walk. Upon entering the trailhead, individuals can choose either the left or right path based on their personal stamina. It is recommended to take the right path as it is easier to walk along, with fewer steep ascents and stairs.

Jiamin Village is a tribal community of the Taroko people, known for their straightforward and optimistic personalities, relying on farming and hunting for livelihoods, and living in harmony with the mountains, endowed with robust physical health from birth. Due to its unique geographical environment, the village boasts the beauty of green mountains and clear waters. Villagers enjoy hunting and gathering throughout the seasons, as well as gathering for drinking and conversation. They inherit traditional craftsmanship from their ancestors, including traditional weaving, bamboo, rattan, wood, and stone carving, as well as cultural artifacts such as backpacks and chairs. The main agricultural product of the village is mountain ferns

Allen was attentive as a tour guide and had many historical facts to share. If you want to learn more about the culture and people of Hualien and the surrounding area you need to take his tour. My partner and I quite enjoyed his stories and sense of humor as we spent a whole day touring the city, national park, and local culture.

I love flowers, flowers is a very beautiful city, from the north to the south there are great attractions to play, but unfortunately every catastrophe will create flowers again, hopefully the government can help to quickly complete the reconstruction after the disaster, after all, this is a place that can attract many tourists. This time the place to go is Sixty Mountain.

Allan was a terrific tour guide! He shared much detail about the history of the Hualien area and the Taroko people. Although Taroko National Park access is still limited as of June 2025 due to the earthquake and typhoon damage last year, we were still able to drive along the main road and stop in a few key places. We also had a delicious lunch and took a few scenic walks and short hikes. Highly recommend Allan for anyone wishing to tour Hualien/Taroko!

Allen was super knowledgeable about everything in the area, and he would share facts about the local people and history. It was a great tour! We got to learn things about Hualien we wouldn’t be able to otherwise. The pacing of the tour was also nice, we did some small walking/hiking with various sight seeing. We also got to see Taroko national park, which is a real treat. Especially given it still is not fully open post-earthquake. I would recommend this to others!

Allen was a fantastic tour guide who was most knowledgable about not just Hualien and it's history, but also had great recommendations for the rest of our trip throughout Taiwan! Being fluent in English, Allen was able to communicate the history and culture of Hualien, as well as the ongoing restoration updates to Taroko Gorge since the Earthquake. Since not many tours are available since the 2024 earthquake and typhoons, it was great to see the part of the Gorge that we could and with minimal crowds!

Thank you very much Allen for this day spent in your company. After the disappointment of the closure of Taroko Park, we greatly appreciated your enthusiasm, the wealth of information provided, the shares and the sites visited. Thank you so much for brightening our day. Laurence & Nicolas from France !

We visited the Taroko National Park after the big earthquake that badly affected the east coast of Taiwan in April 2024 and the huge typhoons not long ago. Our tour guide Allen was not only fluent in English and mandarin, but professional, knowledgeable and despite the still- dangerous conditions of the park, he was most reliable. There was not many guides operating since the quake and the typhoon, but it was importantly for me to see the gorge— at least the parts that we were allowed to access. My guest who was visiting Taiwan for the very first time also had Taroko National Park as one of his must- visits. To my shame, I had my doubts due to the danger presented by the quake, the tremor reverberates still. My guest was the one who said, then that is all the more reason that we must see what we can see of if! Nature would do what nature would do- the gorge is still more magnificent than ever, and within reason and within safety, Taroko National Park still deserves to be seen. It is more awe- inspiring than ever.
