Known as soup buns or soup dumplings in English, this Shanghai dish is beloved throughout China and the world. Unlike dumplings or baozi, this little bundle of joy contains delicious soup inside. An elusive perfect xiaolongbao has a delicate skin surrounding the savoury soup that bursts open with the first bite. You’ll learn how to make both dough and filling with fragrant Chinese spices in a class where I also reveal how soup can be wrapped in a xiaolongbao, which is a type of dumpling. You will cook the xiaolongbaos in two ways, and you will learn how to make a yummy Chinese sauce to go with the xiaolongbaos. Finally, it’s time to enjoy our hand-made xiaolongbaos together! 10:00 am: Meet at the cooking studio. 10:20 am: Introduction of the cooking culture and local ingredient. 11:00 am: Cooking session. 12:00 pm: Enjoy the meal with the class. 12:30 pm: End of the class with recipe.

Xiaolongbao are a classic Chinese dish and learning to make them was easy and fun with our great teacher. Given her broad skills and knowledge, the class was more than “just” a cooking class but rather a great introduction to many aspects of Chinese culture. Highly recommended.

This was a phenomenal experience, Cici works at your pace and skill level - I wasn’t very good and that was fine. The dumplings were delicious at the end

Highly recommend this Xiaolongbao soup dumpling cooking class! Chef Yin is an excellent cook who does a great job of teaching and providing hands-on cooking experience to participants. She is also engaging and personable and throughout the class, it was great to hear stories about China and Chinese culture and really get a deeper understanding of the country that we were visiting. Chef Yin can also customize cooking classes for you depending on what Chinese food you want to learn how to make, which is great because my son and husband have particular Chinese dishes that I can learn how to make.

The entrance was scary. Thur a old abandoned kitchen. Not sure where to meet, until Yin saw us in the alley and lead us thur. The studio was clean, small but functional. Yin was very welcoming and gave great information on how to make dough. The soup buns were very good. A true small look into the local people's lives.

Yin was a great teacher and easy to talk to. She gave an amazing recommendation for a nearby tea shop. My friend and I had a wonderful time learning how to wrap xiaolongbao. The class overall was very fun and interactive. Definitely a memorable experience that my friend and I will not forget and became one of the highlights of our time in Shanghai

Cici is very cute and intentional, teaching from flour making, doughing and wrapping, so learning to do it is easy and delicious. The location is a little rare, but you can contact Cici to ask and get quick responses, which is located as stated in the first building on the left-hand side, on the third floor, is a sandy glass room, but there is no name Badge, but it is not difficult to find it on the third floor. Go for a lesson if you like and are interested in cooking.
