• History, flavor, and fun — Xi’an was the perfect part 2 to our China spring break with Lost Plate!

  Xi’an offered the perfect blend of ancient wonders and delicious eats. Our guide, Ken, greeted us upon arrival and took care of everything — just like in Chengdu (where we also did a Lost Plate Multi Day Tour), all we had to do was show up. Hotels, transfers, and meals were all thoughtfully arranged. Each day was full of delicious meals and authentic experiences we never would’ve found on our own. Some of our favorite highlights from Xi’an: - Seeing the Terracotta Warriors in person — absolutely mind-blowing in scale and so fascinating to learn the history behind them. - Tuk tuk food tours, both in the evening and for brunch — every meal was unique, flavorful, and memorable. - Biking along the ancient city wall — such a fun and scenic way to take in the city’s history. - Wandering through the local market — we saw everything from antiques and fresh produce to a surprisingly wide variety of pets. Our guide Ken was friendly and knowledgeable. As a multigenerational Chinese American family, we appreciated how much thought went into making sure everyone — from the kids to grandpa — felt included and engaged. Having an English-speaking guide helped us understand the deeper stories behind every site and dish, which made it all the more meaningful. We had such an incredible time on Lost Plate’s multi-day tours this spring break that we’re already planning our next adventure — Yunnan or Southeast Asia are high on our list.   We had a great time exploring Xi'an! The food was delicious and the sights were breathtaking. Our guide, Betty, was awesome. She taught us so much about the history, food, and culture of the area. We had so much fun and would recommend this tour to others!

  Betty was our guide and I cannot express enough how amazing she was! She was funny, informative, and super patient with my parents who have never been to a non-English speaking country before. If you are in Xi'an, you cannot miss this tour. When you book, make sure to ask that Betty be your guide. You will not regret it!

  Our time and travel in Xi’an was part of a family reunion and a desire to experience the historical sites and cuisine of the region. Our guide, Betty was absolutely fantastic from meeting us at the train station to ensuring that every detail was taken care of. She was very professional, attentive, and. Her knowledge of the region’s history greatly enhanced our time. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who has a desire to learn more about the region and its culinary delights.   The guide Noble was an absolute gem. Amazing food and enough time to enjoy it. Seeing the terracotta warriors and experiencing Xi'an were the cherries on top! The price includes everything except souvenirs and your journey to Xi'an and back home, totally worth it!

  What a memorable trip! I'm not usually one to book vacations with tour companies but Lost Plates has me a convert! Everything was so easy, all I had to do was show up! Especially as a parent traveling alone with 2 kids and my Chinese skills are less than proficient, this made our vacation a breeze. I will go on every trip that Lost Plates offers, if I can. From booking to accommodations, activities, tours, timing, transportation, our sweet and knowledgeable guide, Noble, EVERYTHING was spot on.   I am usually an independent traveler but in China, having a guide makes things so much easier! With Lost Plate you'll get a thoughtfully crafted itinerary, a helpful guide, and food that can't be beat. This is my second multi-day tour with them and I hope it won't be my last. I saw all the top sights, ate like a queen, and kept my all-important health code green. The last bit might not be the most exciting part of travel but it is the most worrisome if not take care of. Props to our guide who went above and beyond making sure we got tested on schedule so we could do everything we wanted to do (including getting on a plane to go back home). I know most people come to Xi'an to see the terracotta warriors and while they are spectacular, there's so much more to Xi'an and on this tour you'll get to experience it. The food can be the true highlight in Xi'an, at least when you're with Lost Plate. It's hard to choose a favorite meal but I think the evening and morning food tours of the Muslim quarter were my personal favorites. The best part of being with a group is that you can order (and taste) far more dishes than if you were on your own or with just one other person. Plus they've done the advance legwork to find you the best places to eat. Highest possible recommendation for anyone who wants the convenience of a tour/guide but an alternative to a big bus tour.

  Amazing food at local, hidden restaurants that you probably wouldn't find yourself. Authentic, delicious food! Great site seeing. Stayed in an amazing cave hotel and got to see the terracotta warriors!

  This was our fifth Lost Plate Tour experience so we are clearly fans! It was a great introduction to Xian, both the local food (some of the best I’ve experienced in China) and local sites - my highlight was cycling around the city wall! LP are great at finding excellent venues and spots that you’d never find by yourself.
