Scenic coach trip from Nelson (1 hour) or Motueka (20 mins) to Kaiteriteri. Boat cruise (2 hours) along the spectacular granite coast to Tōtaranui. Walk 2.5 hours through lush native forest and along golden-sand beaches to Awaroa.

Walk 4 hours from Awaroa to the long golden sands of Onetahuti Beach. Here, your guide settles you into a stable double kayak with full instructions and safety brief, then it's on to the water to explore secret coves and islands down the coast to Torrent Bay. If the weather allows, kayak to the seal colony on Tonga Island. Approximately 4 hours paddling with a lunch break on a sheltered beach.

In your kayak, skim through sheltered azure waters to explore the sculpted granite coast. Approximately 4 hours paddling from Torrent Bay to Marahau or Kaiteriteri with a lunch break to stretch your legs or relax. Your guide designs the day around the tides and your interests and abilities. Our coach meets you to return to Motueka or Nelson.

5.00Absolutely the best experience ever! Far exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning the team was organized, cheerful, on time and efficient. They provided an extremely personalized experience, excellent food and lodging, and delightful guidance on our challenging walks. The days when we didn't hike, centered at the lovely and well-appointed lodges, were some of our favorites. We did smaller hikes and kayaked on crystal clear waters with stingrays flying under the boats! Our guides, Moana and Brydie, were charming, knowledgable, careful and encouraging. We learned so much from them about the local ecosystems, conservation efforts and Maori culture! MUCH more than we expected. And we expected a lot!

5.00My husband and I had a fantastic time on our 3 day kayak/hike trip in Abel Tasman. Our guide, Rod, was awesome! He was very knowledgeable, professional, and also great fun! The lodges were great and meals were delicious. We met a big group going southbound and we observed that the company was very accommodating with everyone's abilities. The group was split up into those who wanted to try a bit of kayaking, to those who only wanted to hike (and that group was also divided into long vs short hiking too). A couple from London was not interested in walking that day and they were able to catch the boat to take them to the next lodge. This 3 day trip was definitely the highlight of our month-long trip to New Zealand. We highly recommend Wilsons and hope you get Rod as your guide!
