Southampton
Your private guide will meet you at your cruise ship/hotel in Southampton and will drive you to Stonehenge - one of Britain's most famous monuments. The journey will take approximately 1 hour.
Stonehenge
Your guide will take you around the Stonehenge Visitor Centre and the ancient stone circle and will bring the stones to life with interesting stories about its construction and history. Your guide has attended talks by some of the leading archaeologists at Stonehenge and will share with you their latest discoveries. After exploring Stonehenge you will be driven to the beautiful city of Bath. There will be a stop on route at a historic English pub for lunch.
Bath
Your guide was born and grew up in Bath giving you the chance to be shown around the city by a local. You will be taken to your guide's favourite viewpoint over Bath to give you a great perspective of the city. You will then have a private walking tour of Bath where your guide will show you all of the city's famous buildings and landmarks and will tell you interesting stories about these and the city.
The Roman Baths
During your tour you will have an unaccompanied visit inside Bath's most famous tourist attraction, the Roman Baths museum. The museum contains one of the best-preserved remains of a Roman spa which was built thousands of years ago over the city's hot springs. Guides are not allowed to guide inside the museum so this will be an unaccompanied visit where you will have use of the museum's excellent audio guides. After the tour your guide will take you to your accommodation in Bath where you will have the evening at leisure.
Wells
Your guide will collect you at 8:30am and drive you through the English countryside to the cathedral city of Wells, England's smallest city. You will be taken on a private walking tour of Wells' historic centre. Some of the places visited are listed below.
Wells Market Place
The market place is the hub of the city. If you are visiting on a Wednesday or Sunday you will be able to experience the local market that takes place here every week. Fans of the cult film "Hot Fuzz" may recognise their surroundings as the market place featured a number of times in this film.
Wells Cathedral
You will visit the magnificent 13th Century Wells Cathedral. Its beautiful interior has a number of unique features including the world's second oldest working clock.
Vicars' Close
The picturesque Vicar's Close in Wells is the oldest residential street in Europe.
Cheddar
After lunch at an English pub you will be driven to Cheddar, the birth-place of the famous Cheddar cheese.
The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company
Today there is only one small cheese factory in the Cheddar area that produces traditional Cheddar cheese. You will visit this to get a great insight into how Cheddar cheese is made. If you are lucky you may even see the cheese being made whilst you are there. At the end of the visit you will have the chance to taste different varieties of the cheese they produce, including a cheese which is matured in the local caves. Should you wish there will be an opportunity to purchase cheese as souvenirs or to enjoy on the rest of your holiday.
Cheddar Gorge
The spectacular Cheddar Gorge is England's largest gorge. Driving through the gorge you will have the opportunity to stop and walk up to your guide's favourite viewpoint on the gorge. You will be rewarded with fantastic panoramic views over the gorge and the surrounding area. This walk does involve a steep 15 minute ascent on an uneven path which can get muddy when there has been rain so this stop is optional as it may not be suitable for everyone. At the end of the tour you will be driven back to your accommodation in Bath where your evening will be at leisure.
Bath
In the morning your guide will take you on a walking tour of a charming village on the outskirts of Bath which the local tour buses have yet to discover. Your guide will give you an insight into English village life and show you the village's fascinating historical features. You will also have a walk through the surrounding countryside where you will be shown an ancient historical site. ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Instead of visiting the village you can visit a small non-for profit falconry where you will be introduced to their birds and have the unique experience of flying a hawk in the English countryside. If you would like to do this activity, please select this option at the time of booking. After lunch at a village pub you will be driven to your next holiday destination.
On Day 3, before transferring to your next destination, visit a local falconry and fly a hawk in the English countryside.

My wife and I just completed a wonderful three day private tour of the Cotswolds (3 Day West Country Private Tour) with Bath Insider Tours. Our guide was the tour company’s owner, Daniel Hancock, who is a resident of the historic city of Bath. Having traveled extensively throughout the world, we can honestly say that this was one of our most delightful tours! Daniel is not just an informative and very knowledgeable guide, he is a very friendly and charming fellow. By the end of our three days together, we felt we had not only gotten a fabulous tour, but more importantly, we had made a friend. Indeed, we were sorry when our third day came to an end. We cannot recommend Daniel more highly! Book this tour and you will not be disappointed.

Daniel was the most amazing guide while we toured Bath, Glastonbury and Stone Henge. His knowledge and all around good humor made for a most amazing trip. We learned so much. Daniel was able to customize our days just for us. I would highly recommend using Bath Insider Tours. Excellent!

If we could give Daniel a 10, we would, but five is the highest 😁. We spent three full days with him, and he was unfailingly thoughtful, entertaining, and very knowledgeable. He showed us Bath, of course, Stonehenge, the highlights of Wells and Cheddar, and a wonderful experience at a falconry with a hawk named Charlie. He even customized our trip so that we could visit a farm that we were interested in, and that was very special for us. There are areas that we weren’t able to see in those three days and we are seriously thinking of exploring those with him at some point. We really wish him the best in his business.

I cannot say enough good things about our tour of Bath and the West Country with Daniel ! His deep familiarity and knowledge of the area, along with terrific organizational skills, took us to so many significant sites and extraordinary scenes. No time was wasted trying to read maps or call for transportation. Lunch was arranged at a historic pub/cafe each day, with a range of meal choices. He is courteous, well prepared, and charming. He looked out for our comfort, and easily picked up on our personal interests at the various sights. He was able to secure a room upgrade at an historic Georgian hotel to include in his overall tour fee, and recommended areas we could explore for dinner. I feel we have a new friend, who has shared his home city with us in the most expansive way.

Daniel’s 3 Day tour exceeded our expectations! He is a very knowledgeable, personable and attentive guide! The Bath / Wells area is beautiful and we were definitely shown the highlights. Daniel modified our itinerary slightly as we went along and as he got to know us better. I will say the hike to the top of the Cheddar Gorge turned out to be a highlight! We really enjoyed staying in Bath at Dukes. Daniel was also able to give us a number of restaurant choices. We had been on a 12 night cruise before meeting Daniel. We appreciated viewing the countryside, Stonehenge, quaint pubs and villages on our land excursion! We would recommend Daniel and any of his tour options to those who would like to experience a bit more if the Bath area.

After arriving at the Southampton cruise terminal, we were met by Daniel who picked us up and whisked us off to Stonehenge for the first part of our 3 day private tour. Daniel owns the company and was born and raised in Bath so his knowledge of the area is excellent. He took care of all the details, including reservations at a wonderful bed & breakfast in Bath (Duke's Bath), reservations at local pubs or restaurants for lunch, and planned a wonderful itinerary for us. Major highlights were Stonehenge, Wells, Cheddar, Bath and a falconry on the grounds that Prince Charles owns. He also took us on country roads, hiked up the mountain to see Cheddar Valley, and many other unique and wonderful sites. We have traveled all over the world, taken many private and group tours, and I can honestly say Daniel's tour was one of the best. I would not hesitate to take another tour with him!

This was our first time traveling to England and my wife and I figured, lets do this right. Disembarking from the QM2 at Southampton we were met by Daniel, on time, prepared and a well versed tour guide. He owns the company and is local to the area, born and raised in Bath. He drove us places that I could not find again if I tried. Narrow country roads, farm produce stands, major attractions and each and everyone was delightful, well planned and very British. We are walkers and he delivered a diverse and interesting agenda, they only thing out his control was the weather, but he was even prepared for that, providing rain gear and umbrellas out of his well stocked backpack. The only concern I had was prior to us booking the trip. A no refund policy was something that caused me to hesitate. His company is small, and he needs to reserve hotel space in advance during peak travel periods, all of which is nonrefundable to him. But he delivered 100% on his advertised tour, and then some, it way better than we anticipated and he runs a very good operation.
