Visit Danakil Depression
Pick up clients either from the airport in Semera upon landing in the morning @8:00am or pick them up from their hotel and after breakfast we drive directly to Afdera salt lake town where we will make several stops on our way for enjoying amazing landscape views and coffee stops for interaction with the local Afar people. After lunch break in Afdera town we get special permits and a ranger escort for security as we are heading into the remote locations. We then continue driving to Hamedela and reach for the sunset at a perfect time in Assale vast salt flats where we will have a picnic in the middle of the salt flat with an excellent weather and sunset moment worth experiencing. After this we head to the small town of Hamedela established by salt miners and we will have dinner and sleep in an open air camping ground which will be made ready before our arrival. Overnight open air camping face to face with clear sky.

Day 2/Hamedela-Dalll-Ertale … early in the morning before sunrise we drive to the lunar landscape of Dallol geothermal site for an amazing wonder seen no where.A chemical reaction happening right in front of you live face to face with row nature. You will revise your knowledge of colors from that moment on. After this we drive to the salt and mud formed mountain cave right underneath Dallol crater. Another 10 minutes drive and a completely different world. We will have a picnic breakfast in nearby this cave with wonder. After this visit we drive to the vast salt plains , the lake Karum swimming saltwater cold pool in that scorching sun and finally visit the salt miners before leaving back to Hamedela for some rest and after lunch we continue driving to Ertale active volcano. We reach our camping ground at the top of the Caldera. Walk 30 minutes until the summit crater lake currently at its active cycle. Enjoy the wonder happening right in front of you.

Day 3/ Ertale-Afdera-Semera In the morning wake up with the sun and after breakfast drive to Afdera salt lake town. The major hub for salt production and distribution lying at -102m below sea level and the highest temperature feeling in the Danakil depression. Have lunch in town, after a glimpse of the salt lake, a walk along the salt farms and after this we drive back to Semera. Around late afternoon we reach Semera at a perfect time for a flight back to Addis. Those who prefer to stay there we transfer them to their location of interest or their hotel. This will be end of the 3 days and 2 nights extreme nature adventure

5.00Inimaginable landscapes throughout the tour combined with the best guide and team ever. A strong sense of connexion with nature, the unique one of the Danakil depression. Non stop changing landscapes and geological phenomena. A strong experience of the Afar people and their environment. Our guide made the experience unforgettable with his knowledge and sense of human contact. I strongly recommend the tour, and I'll dzfinitely get in touche with Arho Tour for future discoveries in Ethiopia.

5.00AMAZING tour I loved it!!! It's perfect for people who like adventure. Keep in mind that you won't have access to running water, electricity, and toilets at the overnight camps. I didn't mind but it caught some people off guard.

5.00This is the best and most amazing trip by far. Visiting the Danakil Depression has so much to it. Sunset by the endless salt flats, Sunrise at the beautiful Dallol, up close and personal experience with the active volcano at Erta Ale, swim at Lake Afdera, a bath in a hot spring, sleep under the sky and so on. But for this trip to happen and be more interesting Arho Tour( Team Danakil) takes the Lion’s share. Anwar the Team Leader( our guide ) is a walking encyclopedia on the field and a gem for the team. Our driver Daniel is knowledgeable and well-experienced and made the long and rough roads smooth and enjoyable. The whole team is well-organized, knowledgeable, and very experienced. They deserve hundred stars. We were well-fed with delicious foods and kept hydrated at all times. My warmest gratitude goes to Anwar, Daniel, Addis, Frezer, Awot, the Chef, and the local community.

5.00I went with these guys to Danakil in October, and it was amazing. Anwar, Frezer and Addis are really great guys; relaxed, kind, and very skilled and highly knowledgeable tour guides and drivers. The landscapes are otherworldly, miles upon miles of basalt, volcanos, salt flats, sulphuric areas. It’s a sunrise-centric trip: get ready to wake up early to see the sun over these incredible landscapes and avoid the heat. You swim, sleep under the stars, and are well-watered and fed throughout. And it’s no problem coming solo and joining a group — this is what I did and it was super nice.

5.00Visiting the Afar Region, including Dallol and Erta Ale, was like stepping into another world. It was the most incredible trip I’ve ever been on, filled with unforgettable experiences and amazing people who made it even more special. In the Erta Ale region, I met a guy named Bush, who was just like a movie character. He gave me his stick, which I carried all the way back to the UK as a reminder of this incredible adventure. It’s not just a stick; it holds the memories of the lava lake, the heat, and the raw power of nature that surrounded us. Two people who made the journey even better were Anwar, our guide, and Rasta, our driver. They are the best duo you could ask for. Anwar’s knowledge and passion for the region were unmatched, and Rasta’s driving skills made even the toughest roads seem smooth. Their energy and humor brought so much life to the trip and made every moment unforgettable. Dallol was beyond words. Watching the sunrise there was magical; the colors of the landscape were so vivid and unreal, it felt like being on another planet. Walking through the unique formations and salt flats was like exploring a dream. Erta Ale was equally breathtaking. Standing so close to the active lava lake, feeling the heat and seeing the lava bubbling and glowing, was one of the most awe-inspiring experiences of my life. It’s hard to describe how powerful and humbling it felt to be that close to the heart of the Earth. The Afar Region, with its stunning landscapes and incredible people, gave me memories I will cherish forever. It truly was the trip of a lifetime.

5.00I joined the tour - my guide and driver was Addisu Maregu. He made a huge difference to my experience as I am a slow walker - he was patient and helped me along. The drives are long and some roads are smooth whilst many are bumpy. Addis was a very good driver and experienced based on how will he knows the roads n timing so we make it just in time for sunrise n sunset The food by their in-house cook is clean n nice. Given the rawness of the travel, I felt safe
