Elephanta caves
Elephanta Caves
After an hour long boat ride to Elephanta Island from the Gateway of India, explore the magnificent caves. The outer caves were used as a place of Hindu worship until Portuguese rule was established. The caves further in are smaller and are Buddhist caves. The main cave, otherwise known as the Shiva Cave, contains numerous carvings throughout depicting various aspects of Lord Shiva including his wedding, his slaying of Andhaka and more. There will also be a sculpture of the Trimurti in the main cave that is approximately 20 feet tall. Other wings of the caves have shrines dedicated to Shiva’s sons, Kartikeya and Ganesh. Book and explore this UNESCO World Heritage site with a guide from Gharapuri, which is a small village on the south side of the island.

5.00My wife and I did the three day tour of Mumbai with our tour guide Dev. He was an outstanding tour guide and made the entire experience truly unforgettable. He was extremely competent and clearly very knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the city’s history, culture, and everyday life. What really set him apart was his humorous way of storytelling, which made the tour both informative and entertaining at the same time. On top of that, Dev is incredibly personable—warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive. Thanks to him, Mumbai felt vibrant, welcoming, and easy to understand. 5.00Very great, we got to experience India as it is, and not through tourism. We talked to locals and got to make friends with them. Everything from the start to the end is just how I want to travel. With that said I would recommend the guides Raj and Mukash if you want the best trip

5.00We were pleased with just about everything we had planned for our tours prior to arrival in Mumbai. The tour guides were all very friendly, knowledgeable and obliging. Our flight times had changed and this caused a slight miscommunication and the late arrival of our airport pick-up. This meant we had a curtailed tour on a very busy Friday afternoon traffic wise and missed out on a few things we had wanted to do. Our guide in the second day helped make up for this. If you are fussy about cars I would ask the company if they have any upmarket cars available, and don’t forget to take water as they don’t provide any in the vehicle. Aside from these things we were delighted with all the things we did which included a city tour, elephanta caves and a street food tour. I don’t think Mumbai is an easy city to navigate without a guide and Mystical Mumbai certainly have a great team to help you do that

5.00Mumbai was our last stop on a two-week India trip. We were grateful to our driver Mukesh who took us all over Mumbai. He spoke great English, was very knowledgeable about the city and was a lot of fun to hang around with for the week. He made our trip a wonderful experience.
