Train Cemetery
The Train Cemetery in Uyuni is a major tourist attraction. It is a desolate place full of abandoned railway machinery. When we see that pantheon of twisted iron and disused locomotives, we think of the glorious past they had at the beginning of the 20th century. The rise of silver mining demanded the construction of railways and Uyuni was the place in Bolivia where the whistle of a train was heard for the first time. You will have a visit with photo stops.
Colchani
The population of Colchani has 580 inhabitants whose economic activities are linked to the extraction of salt, agriculture (real quinoa), crafts and tourism. It is the mandatory stopping point on the way to the majestic Uyuni salt flat, one of the peculiarities of the place is the construction of small houses made of salt bricks and one of its attractions, in addition to the salt factory, are the craft stalls located on the street major. Activities: * Purchase of handicrafts at the zero point of the population of Colchani. * Visit to the salt processor and the Salt Museum in Colchani. * View of the first Salt Hotel "Playa Blanca" today known as the main salt museum in the area.
Your visit will be guided by the following cultural heritage of the Salar de Uyuni: * Salt Stairs: Designed with the purpose of allowing the taking of photographs with special optical effects. An overwhelming saline ensemble loaded with the most authentic beauty. * Dakar Rally Monument and the endless forest of flags: You will observe the flags worldwide, the central symbol of Bolivia, the heart of Latin America. * Salt Pyramid: From this point, you will observe the mountains outlined on the horizon, minimized by the distance and by the majesty imposed by the infinite salt plateau. * Polygons and Ojos de Sal: In the upper crust of the Salar, you will distinguish the so-called brine eyes. These are small holes formed by fine and sharp crystals like needles, accompanied by polygonal figures in the immense whiteness of the Salar.
Isla Incahuasi
Our guide will accompany you to Incahuasi Island, characterized by being one of the high altitude islands whose soil is made up of fossils of algae, mollusks and other organisms known as stromatolites. There a vegetation composed of cactaceous plants develops. It is located in the central part, 74 km from Colchani. It has a steep surface of 24 hectares and the highest point is 40 meters above the salt level.
Tunupa Volcano
Your tour will continue to the Thunupa Volcano and its surroundings, with sighting of Andean Flamingos and panoramic views of the Salar de Uyuni. You will learn the history and myths of this mysterious tourist attraction that, according to the community, there was a time when the mountains walked, talked and had human forms.
Tahua
You will enjoy a special toast in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni with sandwiches and hot drinks while watching a wonderful sunset, which by nature is painted with surreal colors and landscapes. Without a doubt... a special and unforgettable experience.

Laguna Canapa

Vibrant moment after the tourist tour through the desert, one of the landscapes that seems to take us back to the planet Mars: there is the encounter with the Green Lagoon; another of the wonderful high Andean lagoons of Potosí; Crowning the beauty of its emerald waters, the Licancabur Volcano seems to embrace our country from our southern border. This is Bolivia! It will go to Hito Cajones where a change of vehicle will be made.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AGENCY! My boyfriend (now fiancé) and I had Lily as our tour guide and Eloy as our driver. In summary, this was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had among all the trips we’ve done (we love traveling and have visited 30+ countries). This was especially impressive given the challenging environment (high altitude, no signal, and no clear paths on the salt flats). Lily is incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable. She knows everything and was able to answer all the questions I had. She made sure we felt comfortable throughout the entire trip. Even when a few unexpected situations happened — and when we took longer to take photos or fly our drone — she remained flexible and made sure we experienced everything without rushing us. We were still able to have lunch and dinner at reasonable times. (She also has great taste in music!) Eloy is an amazing driver. I noticed that we were often running behind schedule — either because we spent extra time on the salt flats since my boyfriend proposed during the trip, or because the next day we stopped for many photos and then had a flat tire. But he always managed to drive efficiently and safely to keep us on schedule, and we still felt completely comfortable even on the off-road sections. Both of them did everything they could to make sure we had the best three days possible. There is no doubt that during those three days, I felt blessed, safe, comfortable, and amazed by everything in Bolivia. Lastly, thank you to the entire Mundicontact team! The proposal setup was such an incredible surprise, and I truly appreciate how you adjusted the plan and stayed flexible just to make sure I had the best views and experience. I would definitely come back to the salt flats and reach out to you again! Bolivia will always have a place in my heart, and it’s all thanks to all of you.

We had such an amazing trip that I want to share our experience in both English and Spanish so more people can see it. We had such an amazing trip that I want to share our experience in English and Spanish so more people can see it. English: We booked a customized private 3D2N Uyuni → San Pedro de Atacama tour in late November. Our main contact and trip organizer, Doris Laura Rojas, was incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially when I requested to include a proposal event at Salar de Uyuni. We also chose the optional upgrade to sleep in a camper van on the first night, right in the middle of the salt flats — and it was absolutely worth it. With no WiFi, my fiancée and I enjoyed real quality time together. The stargazing and sunrise were unforgettable, and we loved being able to step right outside the camper for the views instead of driving from a hotel. The camper was warm and comfortable, and two support vehicles with staffs stayed at a distance throughout the night to ensure the heat and electricity worked properly and to keep us safe. In the morning, we had breakfast outside the camper with an amazing view. Everything throughout the trip went smoothly — the food, accommodations, and all the sights. Huge thanks to our guide Lily and driver Eloy. Lily shared detailed background information at every stop, took many great photos for us, and made sure we were always well taken care of. Eloy is a skilled driver; even though most of the roads are unpaved, we felt safe and comfortable the whole way. Overall, we highly recommend booking a private tour with Mundicontact Expeditions. We did 3-day private tour from San Pedro to Uyuni. The landscapes are a must-see in your lifetime—geysers, lagoons, deserts, and salt flats stretch endlessly and appear surreal. Your camera won't stop clicking. The trip reaches altitudes of over 3000 meters, so it's not for everyone. However, Mundicontact Expeditions took excellent care of us in this harsh environment. Our guide Lily has extensive knowledge of the geography, and our driver Christopher (sorry I am not sure the spelling) is highly skilled. Not many can navigate the desert and the salt flat without GPS, but he not only can do it but also keep all people safe. Everything was well-arranged; we even had hot water for shower and enjoyed warm meals at altitudes exceeding 4000 meters. Mundicontact Expeditions ensured our comfort and guided us through potential challenges foreigners might face, starting from before the journey began. I highly recommend their team.

We did a 4 day/3 nights tour from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile to the Uyuni salt flat. We had Poli who’s a very experienced driver and we felt very safe and Victor our English speaking guide. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the areas we visited as well as the Bolivian culture. We learned a lot ! We saw some amazing sights and both were happy to stop as much as we wanted as my husband likes to take photos. Nothing was too much trouble. They were both very courteous and good fun .Thanks for the great photos you took Victor especially on the Salt flat ! It was all very well organised and never felt rushed . We had some delicious lunches in good places . The hotels were well situated and good. A very well organised tour and would definitely recommend this team . Cannot find any faults .

A very nice trip that covers most of the Uyuni and the Altiplano sights. Had a very good car and an experienced driver/guide, Edchy, who navigated the off-road conditions with expert calm and safety! The service was first class with that little extra effort thrown in. Can really recommend the tour and the company if you need to go from Uyuni to San Pedro. Ask for Edchy as your driver!

The most wonderful tour ever. I had dreamed of this place for years and it was my personal gift for my 50th birthday and for my daughter’s 20th. And wow!! It was just amazing, from the moment we arrived to the moment we got in San Pedro. Of course the scenery is incredible and it takes your breath away but it is really the way everything was organized, the hotels, the food, the surprises along the way every day that made it even more beautiful. And most importantly it was our guide, Edchy, who made us feel super special, cared for and extremely safe. He made it very awesome for us. He took photos of us, made sure we were fine, helped us with border patrols…I really hope you get to meet him. Also, I had read all the horror stories about accidents and freezing nights and hard traveling conditions, but this tour was just the opposite. Great guide, great car, great atmosphere, best time and memories for ever. There are no words that could express my gratitude, thank you.

We just completed this three day tour through Ruta Verde Tours and the local provider was Mundicontact and the guide and driver were Jahni and Rodrigo, respectively. The tour itself was conducted very professionally and Jahno had the answers to even the most obscure questions that we gave her. This is as very active tour with many stops punctuated by long drives, so please be aware. Having said that, we asked for several deviations and Jhani adapted accordingly. The salt flats were amazing, with food and wine at the end, and the other days with geysers, flamingoes, and rock formations were real highlights as well. The salt hotel on the first night and the highest hotel on earth (really) on the second were treats as well. I have only resisted giving this tour top marks because of the elevation, which is of course not their fault. The second hotel is is 4300 feet above sea level and the last day we reached over 4500. At these levels we needed to go very slowly and experienced a lot of wheezing and and dizzyness. If you can undertake alitutide training (?) of some sort that is advised. We spent a week at lower altitudes before and that helped, but only a bit. Good luck!

Our 3 day 2 night tour with a private 4x4 and en suite rooms was arranged via Ruta Verde agency who were very good. They contracted Mundicontact Expeditions for the tour. And very glad we were that we did. We had agreed no guide was needed, and as it would be a driver only, Spanish speaking. Edchy was a driver and was wonderful. Safe driving, constantly courteous opening my wife's car door and as helpful as he could be explaining lakes, volcanoes and mountains as he could be in Spanish with our limited understanding. We have visited salt lakes in other countries, and volcanic areas, so have quite a deep knowledge but Edchy was always keen to be assured of our understanding and appreciation of the tour. And what sites, Laguna Verde, Desierto de Siloli and of course Uyuni salt flats to name just three outstanding features. And Uyuni, just spectacular with Edchy's help for the quirky photos made possible by the salt flat surfaces. Excellent company throughout.
