Jvari Monastery

The VI century Georgian Orthodox monastery is built on a hill opposite Mtskheta, at the confluence of Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Shortly after the adoption of Christianity, King Mirian III erected an enormous wooden cross on this site. In the 2nd half of the VI century Guaram, the ruler of Kartli, built a small church beside the Holy Cross. The church is included on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Also, we will enjoy an amazing view of Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers from the birds-eye view.

The City-Museum Reserve of Mtskheta

Visit Mtskheta, one of oldest cities of Georgia near Tbilisi. Mtskheta was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Here Georgians accepted Christianity in 317 and, today, Mtskheta remains the headquarters of the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church.

Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino

The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe is a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century. The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there. The Bodbe Monastery is nested among tall Cypress trees on a steep hillside overlooking the Alazani Valley, where it commands views of the Greater Caucasus mountains. In 1924, the Soviet government closed down the monastery and converted it into a hospital. In 1991, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Bodbe monastery was resumed as a convent. Restoration works were carried out between 1990 and 2000 and resumed in 2003.

Sighnaghi

Zhinvali Water Reservoir is located in the Mtskheta-Mtaineti region, Dusheti Municipality, north of the small town of Zhinvali, in the middle of the Aragvi River. It is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia and attracts many tourists. There is an important monument of Georgian architecture on the shore of the reservoir - the Ananuri complex, which makes this place even more interesting. Another monument located here is also noteworthy: during the construction of the Zhinvali hydroelectric complex, the 12th century Church of the Cross, which is submerged in water for 6 months and can be seen for 6 months, was flooded. Ananuri

Ananuri Fortress Complex - a fortress of the feudal era (XVI-XVIII centuries) near the village of Ananuri. It is located in eastern Georgia, in dusheti municipalityof mtskheta mtianeti, on the historical side of Mtiuleti, on the Georgian military road, at the beginning of Zhinvali reservoir, at 900 meters above sea level. In the past, this place was the main key point of Aragvi Saeristavo, where it gathered, on the one hand from the north - Tergi-Aragvi valleys and on the other hand, from the middle of Kartli, the main roads coming through Dusheti.

Aragvi River

The river has several important tributaries, all called "aragvi": The Tetri Aragvi ("White Aragvi") flows from Gudauri down to the town of Pasanauri, where it is joined by the Shavi Aragvi ("Black Aragvi"), the main river of Gudamakari to the north-east.
