A stroll through Beijing’s Hutongs are recommended to every visitor to the capital, but locals know that “there are as many hutongs as there are hairs on an ox” around the city. The best way to get to know the most scenic twisting backstreets that locals call home is by eating your way through them, especially at the pop-up breakfast stalls that disappear after the morning rush hour. On this tour, you’ll meet your bilingual guide and small group at a convenient location, then head out to try traditional morning dishes side-by-side with the locals who love them.

This is my second time doing this breakfast tour - I don't know how Garth does it, but it was even better than before. There's honestly nothing this man doesn't know about Chinese food and Beijing. Even an off-the-cuff comment about coffee drinking habits in China was met by such an interesting, educated and entertaining answer. I've done the dinner tour too, and it's also spectacular. If you're wavering about which to do, my suggestion is "both". Maybe not on the same day though because gosh, that was a lot of food.

The breakfast food tour was everything I had hoped for, with an enormous variety of local food, far away from the touristy areas. Meeting up was easy and the tour well thought out and informative, food and history combo which I loved . The tour guides knew a lot of the locals in the area we were and it was all genuine friendly and local. There was an enormous amount of food so pace yourself ! Cannot recommend enough, 100%

I had a great time on this tour with Garth and it was definitely worth my time and money. I can eat a lot and I was so full by the end and it was all food/shops I wouldn’t have tried on my own. Garth also provided historical info on China/Beijing along the way. Highly recommend!
