To eat with locals, in local places called "Huecas", good local food, to pay them straight for the food, it is the best way for me to show you my culture. This is "not one usual food tour", because my main goal is to allow visitors to immerse themselves in Quito´s life and it's local gastronomy. I find the best foodie spots in an awesome, Anthony Bourdain´s style walking tour. In our capital city of Quito, a Hueca stands for a boutique, frequently family-run eatery, which offers quality dishes and beverages, often with the unique twist of a secret family style. It’s a very vibrant part of Quito's culinary stage. I’m extending my heartfelt invitation for you to join us and sincerely hope you will find these special places to be irresistible. I made this visit, I was alone with the guide, who made the effort to make this visit in French! It was great, I recommend, food and explanations from the local culture. I recommend.

Overall beautiful insightful food experience. Edwin is super knowledgeable and was so open into answering all my questions and there was even food options for different diets which was great! Not only we learned about the food we ate, but also the history of the restaurants and spots in addition to some Ecuadorian slang words which was great. Edwin was so joyful and a great guide. Even recommended addition spots to check out to continue exploring more of foods Quito has to offer!

We had a great time with Edwin on the local food tour. He showed us several hidden gem food shops (huecas) around the city, all with fantastic food, and sprinkled in a bunch of interesting history. He even ensured there were vegetarian options at all the places and that was a huge plus for us! We were so full of good food by the end you won’t need to eat the rest of the day!

Edwin has a great knowledge of the city - its sites, food and culture. His communication was amazing and fluent in English. Highly recommended for an awesome Quito experience. We loved him so much we did a 2nd tour with him.

Edwin gave us a wonderful walking tour of some fascinating places in Quito. He is extremely fluent in English well spoken, intelligent and knowledgeable about both the current and ancient histories of the city. He explained why the seven churches were aligned with the summer solstice path of the sun. The main square of the town was interesting and very pretty. The best part was the local Huertas where the local people eat. These little hole in the wall restaurants were delicious and inexpensive local food. He also took us by the Kito chocolate factory where we did the 30 minute demonstration of artisanal chocolate making by the owner. Great experience!

Edwin is a fantastic guide. He was happy to personalize the tour for personal food interests. We loved the huecas we went to. While walking to each food destination, Edwin also provided great history about the sights around the old town. Highly recommend!

We had a limited time to learn about Ecuador. Ecuador is a complex culture created by complex interaction of native Quechua, Incan and Spanish influences. Hiring Edwin as our guide and using food as a common starting point is an exceptional way to make new friends and experience the culture. The tour with Edwin was particularly easy because we asked him to hire a car and pick us up at our hotel. The adventure began with a mix of culture and history over colada morado and hot chocolate. Then in rapid succession Sweets, history, chocho, education, fish, culture, meat, family and every day life. We thoroughly enjoyed our cultural immersion albeit it one day. We wished we had time to take Edwin’s bike tour. As a family of 5 we can’t say enough good things. Perhaps if your family has a narrow food pallet or has lots of food allergies this may not be the tour for you, but on the other hand Edwin is extremely flexible and safety conscious. We worked around one party members food allergy.

Edwin was a great guide around Quito. Not only did we learn about local foods and family owned restaurants, but we learned so much about Quito and Ecuadorian history. The food choices were amazing. Highly highly recommended.

Edwin was a great guide and easy going. We rode the newly renovated public electric bus to one of our stops. We visited huecas and had hot cocoa with cheese/bread, a special warm juice, candy/snacks, a sublike sandwich, full meal, and warm shot. We walked a moderate distance (not strenuous or difficult) and learned about the history, culture, and food of Quito/Ecuador.
