  Chef Dave was enthusiastic and professional. The class was fun, informative, hygienic. My partner loves to cook, me not as much, yet we BOTH learned so much and had so many laughs. A super warm and inviting class for anyone wanting to learn something new!

  Chef David is an engaging instructor and very good at teaching to all skill levels. Highly recommend taking this class if you have any interest in Afro-Panamaian cuisine.

  We had a wonderful time at the Afropanamanian Cooking Experience! Chef Dave was incredibly engaging and shared so many helpful cooking tips that go beyond the recipes, especially his strong focus on cleanliness and good kitchen habits. The food was absolutely delicious, and the entire experience felt warm, fun, and welcoming. It was also a great opportunity to meet travelers from all over the world and connect through culture and food. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Panama City!

  You can tell Dave is very passionate about cooking! We learned everything from basic kitchen safety tips, to how to cut and chop vegetables properly or in a way that saves time, to what flavors are more traditionally Panamanian or African— Dave did it all! He does a different dish each class, so I imagine some dishes take longer than others to make, meaning it may take longer than 3.5 hours so just be prepared for that! I also recommend comfortable shoes since you will be standing longer in the beginning. The space is beautiful to cook in and he and his assistants (we had Angel for ours!) keep it clean the entire time. Yummy food, great people. Definitely give it a go if you love to learn and eat.

  A great way to end a vacation! Chef David was an excellent teacher and such positive energy! The other guests were also such a fantastic group. Highly recommend.

  Awesome! Chef Dave is super fun & personable. This class was way more than a regular cooking class where people usually focus on assembly with pre-cut and pre-portioned ingredients. We all worked together to assemble the most delicious meal & learned a lot of useful cooking, food prep & shopping skills along the way. Best meal I had in Panama, easy.

  Cook with Chef Dave at his apartment in Casco Viejo. We arrived to find work-stations set up with all the ingredients we needed to help the chef prepare (and later eat) an interesting meal (with the prep work already done). The participants at the class I attended came from different countries and ranged from somewhat quiet to quite effusive, and everyone had a good time. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys cooking and wants to learn Afro-Panamania cooking techniques with like-minded people.

  I booked and paid for this experience 10 days before the actual class. I received a call at 1:15am the morning of the class. I saw a message when I woke up, stating that the class was overbooked and that I was the last to book. Host asked if we could be moved to Monday. We were leaving the country on Monday morning. We were really looking forward to going to this. The entire situation was handled poorly by the host. It seems like it would have been super fun but I’ll never get to experience it.

  The energy that chef Dave brings is unmatched to any other cooking class I’ve taken. We met so many amazing people in our class. Food was delicious, energy was contagious, and the memory was one of my favorites from Panama. My favorite part, though, was at the end, when Chef Dave told us to give our friends their flowers today, shower them in love because you never know when it’ll be too late. We all went around the room and said what we love about our specific groups we came with, along with what we learned from others in the class. It was such a fulfilling experience. I would recommend this class to everyone!!! If you’re lucky enough to have availability to take the class, jump at the opportunity.

  Chef Dave is amazing. His cooking class is one of the best experiences I’ve had in Panama City. Definitely recommend!
