We booked this 4-day Chengdu adventure with Lost Plate as a multigenerational spring break trip — including our kids, my nephew, my husband and me, and my dad (aka grandpa). We all agreed it was an amazing experience! Lost Plate took care of everything and curated a trip full of memorable meals, moments, and cultural highlights. All we had to do was book our flight to Chengdu. Once we landed, our guide Susan was there to greet us at the airport. From airport pickup to hotel check-in, every meal and activity was thoughtfully planned. Susan and our driver whisked us away to the most flavorful restaurants and fascinating sites around Chengdu and Leshan. Every day was packed with unique experiences and highlights, but if we had to pick a few favorites: - The tuk tuk food tour through hidden local gems — such a cool way to taste authentic Sichuan flavors - The “fly restaurant” where we got to choose several dishes to try from a wide, colorful and tasty spread — so fun! - Hot pot — a must eat in Sichuan, and it definitely didn’t disappoint - The adorable pandas — pro tip: they’re most active in the morning and cooler weather - Our cooking class, where everyone from our 9-year-old to grandpa donned aprons and made a delicious lunch together. - The Leshan Buddha, which was awe-inspiring as the world's largest stone Buddha. As a Chinese American family, we loved reconnecting with our roots through food and culture — but having an English-speaking guide like Susan made it so much easier to understand the rich history and stories behind every dish and site. Even our grandpa, who is fluent in Chinese, appreciated how seamlessly everything was translated and explained for the kids and non-fluent adults. The hotels were comfortable and conveniently located, and all our transfers were smooth. Honestly, this was the most stress-free, fun, and flavor-packed way to experience Chengdu. We loved it so much we didn’t think anything could top it — until our next Lost Plate multi-day adventure in Xi’an proved us wrong. We really loved that one too. We highly recommend a multi-day tour with Lost Plate Tours!

My friends and I booked a private 4-day trip to Chengdu and Leshan, and Lost Plates far exceeded our expectations! Daisy was our guide who was so much fun to spend our vacation with. It felt like we were just hanging out with a friend who had great knowledge on the cities and restaurants we visited. The entire trip was well planned and thought out. Daisy was flexible with our group if we ever wanted to change the timeline around and had great recommendations for what to do at night when the tour was done. It is difficult to pick the best part of the trip, but seeing panda bears, making our own green tea, and trying Sichuan hotpot & dan-dan noodles are all at the top of the list. It felt like every meal was better than the last because they were all so delicious! I would 100% recommend booking any tour with Lost Plates.

Just go. I mean, at a minimum you should go on the evening food tour but if you have the time to spend four days in Sichuan, I can't imagine how you could spend your time better than to put yourself in Lost Plate's hands for the duration. Every sightseeing activity was worthwhile, every meal was delicious and many of them were at places you'd be hard pressed to find on your own unless you're traveling with a Chengdu native. You don't have to worry about a thing--they help you with all the details, including abiding by all of China's travel regulations. You can just sit back and enjoy the ride and make new friends in a small group of fellow-travelers. This is my first multi-day trip with Lost Plate (I did an evening tour with them in Xi'an) but I don't plan for it to be my last.

The trip was fantastic, food offered great (you would never find those spots by yourself). The small group was also very nice. I really enjoyed the trip - not only I manage to visit some places which are a must-see (like pandas or Leshan Buddha) but also places I didn't think of visiting before (like a tea plantation). The guide was also very knowledgable and helpful and her English was very good.

I highly recommend this tour. The food is amazing. I tried so many local dishes that I had never seen or heard of before — all of them delicious. On top of that, we managed to spend time with pandas, hang out at a traditional tea house and a cool bar, pick and roast our own tea in the countryside, and visit the Big Buddha in Leshan. Our guide Daisy took very good care of us and answered all the random questions we threw at her.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lost Plate tour of Chengdu and Leshan. We saw new and unforgettable parts of China and had experiences we never encountered before, like picking and roasting our own tea leaves. Thanks for opening up another side of China to us, Lost Plate!
