Our Amazon tour begins at Pusuno Bajo, where our staff will meet you to continue the journey to Suchipakari Amazon Lodge. You only need to manage your carry-on and camera equipment. All other luggage will be transported by our staff. 13H00 PM | Welcome Lunch
Upon arrival at the reception area of the EcoLodge, our manager will welcome you with a revitalizing drink and offer a brief orientation regarding your stay at Suchipakari Jungle Lodge & Spa. After settling in, one of our Naturalist Guides will provide you with essential information about the tropical rainforest, the Amazon, and the operation of our DISCOVERY PROGRAM. This orientation will ensure you have the necessary knowledge to fully immerse yourself in this incredible environment.
Next, put on your rubber boots and go hiking with our native guide, who will share traditional knowledge of local medicinal plants such as dragon’s blood, ginger, guayusa, and the straw used for instruments, costumes, and construction within the community. You can swing on vines like Tarzan and take a photograph at The Great Ceibo, the giant Amazonian tree.
We will then return to the Eco-Lodge to get swimsuits, life jackets, and inner tubes for a refreshing float down the Pusuno River from one of its sandy beaches. Back at the Eco-lodge, take a break and enjoy a jungle mojito—it's simply amazing. Your guide will then explain the next day’s activities.

This day is open for enjoying one or more of the lodge’s optional tours. Nature lovers may want to start with a daybreak birdwatching tour before breakfast. Though there are nearly 30 rainforest waterfalls around the reserve, only four are accessible to guests. With your guide, you can choose which waterfall trail to explore. Water is essential to life in nature, and there’s nothing like a refreshing dip at the end of a hike. Opt 1: RUMI YAKU waterfall with a primary rainforest hike, combining a paddle canoe excursion to observe wildlife and visit Monkeys Beach. Opt 2: Adventure to the RAYUCOCHA Waterfall, featuring a demanding hike on ancient trails leading to a hidden waterfall. Opt 3: UMBUNI waterfall, then continue to the paicawe Lagoon, and playa de monos. Opt 4: PARROTS TRAIL, small waterfall and interacting with a Kichwa family on the return journey.
Reaching the Rumi Yaku waterfall is challenging but undeniably worth the effort. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the reserve, featuring a stunning setting and a special place to sit and meditate. The walk starts from the hotel and takes five hours round trip, covering 4 km. Several options can reduce hiking time, including taking a vehicle part of the way, walking to the Kiwcha bridge, or crossing to the other side and walking the trail to the waterfall.
Enjoy a paddle canoe ride through the Kawana Fauna Production Lagoon Reserve and discover a rich diversity of plants and animals across two distinct landscapes and ecosystems
Afterward, you'll visit the Misahualli port, where you can observe monkeys playing in the forest adjacent to the beach, offering an ideal spot to witness the setting sun paint the sky pink over the rivers (Misahualli and Napo) and lush forests. Here, you'll also have the opportunity to purchase local crafts, products, and souvenirs before returning to the Eco-Lodge.
Alto Napo Wildlife Refuge (Suchipakari Jungle Lodge)
Take some time to refresh in the pool before dinner. Later, your guide will provide a detailed explanation of tomorrow's activities, promising an adventure along the Napo River and a chance to truly immerse yourself in the rainforest's depths.

My fiancee and I went on this before a wedding in Ecuador. We had an incredible time. Everything was well organized, from the taxi pickup to the activities. When weather impacted our designed schedule, our guide pivoted fluidly to similar activities or reordered to make everything work. You really cram a lot in to a short amount of time without anything feeling rushed or half done. The lodge was surprisingly beautiful. After a day of activities, being able to kick your feet up and have a beer overlooking an Amazon tributary, or exploring the beautiful flowers around the complex is such a great way to relax. Mosquitos were not nearly as big of a deal here as my other rainforest trip, which was also a welcomed surprise. Bring bug spray, but you won't be swarmed. This trip offers a range of diverse experiences, from wildlife spotting to educational jungle walks to meeting natives for lunch/dancing and more. 10/10. Already forwarded to some friends who are interested.

SuchiPakari is a magical hotel. The instructions were clear, and the arrival was relaxing with no traffic on the road. We were greeted by Xavier with great joy, warmth, and a fragrant guayusa drink. We were informed about all the amenities of the hotel and the activities available. Our superior room was very lovely, new, and clean, with extremely comfortable pillows and mattress. The bathroom was modern with jungle touches. The breakfast was abundant and complete. The food was truly delicious, with gourmet dishes very well presented at good prices. The bar offered drinks and cocktails to suit all tastes. The little beach by the Pusuno River was very close; we walked there and swam in its waters. At night, we went for a walk, observed insects, plants, snakes, and above all, the stars shining like diamonds in the sky. I still can't decide which day was better: the motorized canoe tour visiting the animal rescue center with the alligator lagoon, or the day of hiking to one of the waterfalls around the lodge... a beautiful primary jungle... that allowed us to jump into the river and eat at the foot of the imposing waterfall, finishing with a visit to the indigenous Kichwa community. On the last day, we learned how to prepare chocolate from cacao seeds. In summary, it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend staying at SuchiPakari because it was a fabulous experience. And thanks for helping us with the return transfer to Quito via the Cascades route in the city of Baños.
