Greenfire Game Lodge is a spectacular safari destination in Balule Private Game Reserve with bold, contemporary architecture that blends seamlessly into the riverine forest. The luxury lodge in Greater Kruger offers guests an exclusive safari experience in beautiful bushveld surrounds overlooking the seasonally-dry Mohlabetsi River. A striking design element of the game lodge is the floor-to-roof glass-fronted exterior paneling that lets in gorgeous natural light. The main lodge is nestled in a shady grove of indigenous trees with a comfy lounge, cosy bar area and a wonderful viewing deck centered around a sparkling pool. Daily game drives are in an open safari vehicle and a guided walking safari can be booked in advance.

Guests are picked up early in Johannesburg and driven to the Greater Kruger in a luxury tour vehicle. It’s a 5-6 hour drive, with a refreshment stop along the way. Arrive mid-day, have a light lunch and relax around camp before it’s time to depart for a late-afternoon game drive in Balule Private Game Reserve. Return to camp as the sun is setting and enjoy a fun communal dinner around the firepit.

5.00I traveled solo to South Africa for the Christmas break (Dec-2024) and found MoAfrika during my search for a tour operator. As a solo female traveler, below are my top priority items: - Safety - Making sure I get my $$$ worth in experiences - Having the same experience that a couple, group of friends or a family would have I got connected with Lavender who went above and beyond to make my trip memorable. She listened to my needs and helped me narrow down the reserve / lodge I should stay at in KNP (I opted for the 4day / 3night the Greenfire lodge that I absolutely loved). Throughout my trip she stayed connected to make sure I was enjoying my safari and got to see the animals. She also helped me with planning my day tour at Johannesburg (with my guide Thapelo who was absolutely outstanding in narrating the history). I left KNP and Johannesburg with fond memories and felt I had gained a friend (even though our conversations were purely on WhatsApp). Thank you MoAfrika and Lavender for this amazing experience!
