Mole National Park

Just a two-hour drive from Tamale, we will pick you up either from your hotel or directly from Tamale Airport and take you on a scenic journey through the savannah plains to Mole National Park for an overnight stay at the Mole Motel. In the late afternoon, you will enjoy an exciting jeep safari experience, offering great opportunities to spot elephants and encounter other wildlife in their natural habitat.

Mole National Park

We will begin the day with an early morning walking safari led by an experienced game ranger, offering another close-up wildlife encounter. After the safari, you will return for breakfast, and proceed to visit the Larabanga ancient Mosque and the Mognori ecovillage for a canoe safari and village life experience. ideal for bird watching and shea butter processing experience.

Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary

The Hippo Sanctuary is one of the best places in Ghana to experience close-up sightings of hippos in their natural habitat, making it a perfect add-on adventure when visiting Mole National Park. The journey to Wechiau is an adventure in itself. It is approximately a 4-hour scenic drive through the open plains of the savannah, passing through several rural villages and local communities. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation of the landscape, culture, and everyday life in northern Ghana. the dry season is the best time, when water levels are lower and hippo sightings are at their best. We set off from Mole as early as possible to ensure we have ample time at the sanctuary. Once there, you’ll join the local community guides for a canoe safari along the Black Volta River, where you can safely observe these majestic “water giants” in their natural environment.

Tamale

After a well deserved rest, we enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out and bidding farewell to the elephants and the wild beauty of Mole National Park. We then begin our journey back to Tamale in time to catch your late afternoon flight to Accra.
