Zhangjiajie
Arrive in Zhangjiajie in the afternoon/evening, driver pick up from the airport / train station, and transfer to Wulingyuan area, check into hotel.
Tianzi Mountain
Today, you’re going to visit one of the park’s most popular attractions—Tianzi Mountain, also known as the Son of Heaven Mountain. You’ll take a cable car to the top, where you can soak in breathtaking views of Warrior Taming Horse Rock and the Western Sea. These are two of the park’s most spectacular mountain formations, and they’re truly a sight to behold.
After that, you’ll hop on a shuttle bus to Kongzhongtianyuan. From there, you’ll be able to see some amazing rice fields perched on top of the stone pillars—it’s really a spectacular sight. Then, you’ll hike down to a viewing platform where you can get up close to the pillar-like mountains, offering one of the best views in the entire park!
Next, you’ll take a shuttle bus to the top of the Yuanjiajie area, which became famous thanks to the movie Avatar. Here, you’ll be at the same height as the massive mid-aged stone pillars, which are even bigger than the ones at Tianzi Mountain. After enjoying the views, you’ll take the world’s highest outdoor elevator down, then catch a shuttle bus to the park’s exit.
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Morning, transfer about 40 minutes to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, a stunning new discovery just outside Zhangjiajie National Park. It’s now very popular, thanks to the world’s longest glass bridge—430 meters long and over 300 meters above the ground. Walking on it is definitely a test of courage! Walking on the transparent glass is an unforgettable experience, perfect for those seeking a bit of adventure. From there, you can choose to add some adventure by taking an exciting zip line and slide or, if you prefer, an elevator and slide down to the bottom of the canyon.
The Grand Canyon of Zhangjiajie
Hiking along the grand canyon, along the way, you’ll encounter beautiful natural landscapes, caves, and unique rock formations carved by thousands of years of erosion. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, staying on the bridge to enjoy the sweeping views of the canyon and surrounding mountains is equally rewarding. The combination of natural beauty and modern engineering makes Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon a must-see destination for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.
Baofeng Lake
Next, you’ll head to Baofeng Lake, where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful boat cruise. As you glide across the calm waters, you’ll have the chance to listen to beautiful mountain songs performed by local minority singers, adding a special cultural touch to the experience.
Golden Whip Brook
In the morning, you’ll check out and head to one of the most beautiful valleys in the world—the Golden Whip Brook. Here, you’ll see towering peaks that rise straight into the sky, like giant natural skyscrapers. The Chinese have given these majestic formations many poetic names, reflecting their beauty. As you hike along the stream, you’ll enjoy the crystal-clear water, fresh air, and well-preserved natural surroundings. It’s a peaceful, relaxing walk where you can truly soak in the stunning scenery.
Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park
After that, you’ll transfer to Tianmen Mountain, located right in the city center. It’s the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie and is famous for having the longest cable car in the world. You’ll enjoy a breathtaking 30-minute ride covering about 7.5 km, taking you directly to the mountain’s summit. Once at the top, get ready for an exhilarating walk along the glass plank road, built against the side of the towering cliffs—it’s truly a thrilling experience! You’ll also see the world’s highest natural karst cave, known as Tianmen Cave, which pierces right through the mountain. This stunning natural arch is often called a “unique sight under heaven” and is deeply connected to local legends about heavenly culture and fairies. As you explore, you’ll come across beautiful trees, striking karst formations, and a variety of medicinal herbs and plants that thrive on the mountain. After your adventure, you’ll be transferred to the train station or airport, marking the end of your journey.

My husband and I visited ZJJ near the end of May 2025. We debated whether or not to get a guide and we’re so glad we decided to! It was honestly such a stress free experience and we were able to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery of ZJJ. Grace was wonderful in helping us with our itinerary. It was very organized and clear about what we would see, what would be included and what the cost would be. We tweaked it a few times based on what we wanted to see or thought we could skip out on. She was very quick with the changes and recommendation. In the end, the itinerary was perfect for us! We got to see everything we wanted and it wasn’t jammed packed so we had time to rest each day. Communication was excellent leading up to and during the tour. Our guide was Daniel, and he was amazing! From the moment he picked us up to the airport until he dropped us off on our way out, he was super on top of things and always made sure we had everything we needed. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable during our entire trip. He was great at giving us the background info of the different sites and so good at taking pictures for us! He’s a photographer, so he made sure to get good angles and even compiled videos for us. He’s also a great singer, even if he won’t admit it! He also took us to secret spots where we had the lookout points all to ourselves. He made sure we go to and from our hotels safely and even offered to help us order at restaurants (we don’t read Chinese). This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip and we highly recommend anyone going to ZJJ to work with Grace and Daniel! The national park and Tianmen Mountain are huge with many different shuttle busses and cable cars that take you to different parts. Even after visiting, we would have no idea how to navigate through them without Daniel. I’m sure it’s doable without a guide, but there is very limited information in English online and the shuttle buses don’t really have English to know which stop you’re at. We will be telling everyone we know about Grace and Daniel if they’re planning to visit ZJJ. We LOVED our experience with them!

We had such a great time in Zhangjiajie with our family! The views were absolutely stunning—just like something out of a movie. Our tour was super well organized, everything ran smoothly, and we could just relax and enjoy. A big shoutout to our tour guide, Daniel, he was amazing! Super knowledgeable and patient, my kids love him so much! He used to be a professional photographer, so he took some incredible photos of us along the way. We’ve got so many great memories, both in our minds and in pictures. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Zhangjiajie!

Our tour guide was Ms. Carmen Chou and the driver was Mr. Chou. They picked us up at Changsha train station. From the first meeting, they've been very kind and helpful. We traveled with 2 kids (10&6 yo) and 4 eldery (all above 65 yo), it wasn't easy for sure, but ms. Carmen made our journey so enjoyable and memorable. We managed to visit every place in the itinerary. She was very understanding and patient, though our group pace was slow (my 72 yo aunt needs walking stick). She was very professional and knowledgeable about this area (and many areas we passed through). My daughter enjoyed the history or back story she shared about their culture. Both my children adored her, as she was very caring and interactive toward them. What I like about their service was also how customisable it was. They care about our needs. Unlike most travel agents, they did not take and lock us up at various medicine/souvenir shops. No unnecessary time wasted. Carmen spoke English with me, my husband and my children. She spoke Mandarin with my parents and aunts. She was able to communicate well with everyone in my family. After Zhangjiajie, we were about to take a train from Changsha to Shenzhen. There were no taxis or cars willing to pick us from hotel to train station early in the morning (it was holiday in China and the distance was too close). Fortunately, Carmen and mr.Chou offered us their car service for free, though it wasn't part of the contract/itinerary. We were so grateful for their helps. So, if you want to visit Zhangjiajie, I highly recommend "Zhangjiajie Guardian" as your tour guide.
