Inca Trail
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30am and then we’ll drive by private bus for two hours to Ollantaytambo where we will stop for a quick breakfast. Then we continue driving for another hour until we reach the start point of the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Once everyone has had the chance to prepare their belongings, we will pass through a control point to enter the National Park. Then the real adventure begins, we follow a gently undulating path for one and a half hours, before we ascend gradually for another half an hour until we reach the Incan site of Llactapata. From here we will enjoy the amazing snow-capped views of the Veronica mountain peak and begin our short descent to our lunch spot. After lunch, we will continue hiking for another two and a half hours until we reach our camping site at Huayllabamba. After enjoying our afternoon tea we will have the opportunity to meet the incredible porters who will be helping us along our journey.

Our wake up call will be at approximately 5:30am and then following a lovely breakfast we start the hike up to Dead Woman’s Pass, which at 4,215m is the highest point of the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Along the way we will explore the amazing forest with its native trees and hanging mosses and we will enjoy the other beautiful natural scenery. After reaching the pass, we will take some time to enjoy the stunning snowy mountains surrounding us. We then begin our descent to the camping site at Pacaymayo where we will have lunch and enjoy a relaxing free afternoon to recover from the day of hiking. This is the most beautiful day of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu as we will enjoy views of the Veronica mountain peak, Vilcabamba mountain ranges and the magical Cloud forest. Along the way we will also stop to visit and explore the Incan sites of Phuyupatamarka and Intipata. We will hike for another three hours before we complete our descent to the campsite at Winay huayna. This is the earliest start of the trek as we wake up at 3:30am in order to catch a spectacular view of the sunrise at the Machu Picchu ruins. We will enter the Incan site of Machu Picchu as the ancient Incas did, through the Sun gate entrance (“Inti Punku”). Once we have taken in the breath taking panoramic views we will descend into the main part of the site of this archaeological wonder. We will enjoy a two hour guided tour with the best local guide after which you will have time to continue exploring the beauty of this vast site. Following this, we will travel down to Aguas Calientes Town by bus and then catch the train back to Ollantaytambo, before returning to Cusco by private bus. 5.00We are a family of four (kids age 10 and 12). I was a little bit nervous bringing the kids on the Inca Trail, but it was something we really wanted to do. I looked at a lot of different tour companies to find the trip that was right for us. As soon as I reached out to Andean Path I knew it was the right fit. Alicja was extremely responsive to my questions and found the trip that would work for us. We did the 5 day private tour. Andean Path is also 100% Peruvian, and that was important to us. Having a private tour meant that we could set the pace that was right for us. Our guide, Ronald, was excellent. He set our daily schedule to suit our speed. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the Inca and all the sites we visited along the way. Our chef and porters were amazing. They worked so hard to set up camp and feed us every day. The food was excellent, plentiful, and had a lot of variety. The trip was also very well organized. Gear was high quality and in good condition. Transports were always on time. Andean Path took care of everything. I would strongly recommend Andean Path to anyone who is looking to do a trip in the Cusco area.

5.00My daughter and I just completed the classic 4 day hike to Machu Picchu along with a 1 day tour to Rainbow Mountain with Andean Path and we cannot thank Ronald / David enough for their assistance in making this trip truly an adventure of a lifetime. 5.00Curated a private trip with Alicja and David to complete the Salkantay in 3 days, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, and Ausangate to rainbow mountain. I cannot explain how incredible an experience this was. From the trip detailing and booking process to the execution with our guide Ronald, horseman Victor, Chef Nazario, and drivers Junior and Juan everyone was knowledgeable and kind. Each day was meticulously planned and executed far beyond our expectations. So many extra safety measures and extra effort went into ensuring our trip was phenomenal. We loved getting to talk with the group about Peru, the Andes, and Amazon. We were so cared for and had such fun with everyone. This was the trip of a lifetime with so much care and joy embude within each component. To tour Peru with an Andean group, eating the best Peruvian food in the Andes and Amazon above 13000 feet with master chef Nazario, learn Incan history, and explore all the nature was a privilege. If you can book with this company, do.

5.00David and Rom and the entire team provided an excellent experience for all 10 of our diverse group (that ranged in age from 18 to 68). We had a wonderful tour of the scared valley before beginning our 4 day hike on the Inca Trail. The trail has some of the most breathtaking views you will ever see on this once in a lifetime epic adventure. David & Rom were attentive and encouraging as we made our way through the 4 days and 3 nights on the trail. Every detail was carefully thought through and planned by David and his team. When we had notice that our flight home was canceled & we needed to rearrange our last day David made everything work seamlessly. I could not have asked for a better group & would highly recommend ANDENA PATH TRAVEL as the best possible option to guide you through this amazing experience!

5.00David and Rom were amazing tour guides. Our group did the 4 day inca trail to MACHU PICCHU. Their level of 5 star accommodations on a side of a mountain were fantastic. They plan your trip down to every little detail. Their porters woke us up with a cup of hot tea which is just what I needed. The tents were set up every night when we got to the campsite. This was great so you could rest before tea time. The food. Holy cow the food was delicious. They make everything on site on the trail. The porters were beasts. Carrying up to 13 lbs of my stuff abs also everything else they had to carry. They were always making sure we had water or when we asked for something, they were quick to help. it was a tough hike but David and his crew did an amazing job with encouraging and stopping to talk about Inca history, plants on the trail, or Inca traditions. My group asked a lot of questions and they answered them with patience and lots of knowledge. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone going to Peru and wanting to hike the Inca trail. Budget list check!

5.00We did the 4 day classic Inca Trail Trek and our tour guide Ron was great! The best thing was the food (and also the views)- hadn’t eaten so well in all of the 6 months of our South American travels! Company were really accommodating to my vegan gluten intolerant cousin too.
