A four-hour hike to the scenic mountain Gaisstein, considered by some to be the most alpine peak of the Prealps. At an altitude of 974 meters, this secluded peak is one of our most romantic and popular vantage points.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness

Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately! Only if the weather is dangerous for life and limb, we are entitled to choose a different (as equal) tour. If it is not possible to avoid the danger, we will cancel the tour free of charge

The use of mountain boots is strongly recommended

In winter time sometimes additional equipment (snow chains, snowshoes) is needed. We will inform you accordingly!

You have to be free from vertigo and safe over steep terrain (sure footedness)

Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not possible for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair

A hike to the scenic mountain, considered by some to be the alpine summit of the Prealps. "Only once you appreciate the Gaisstein of an ascent, dear mountain friend, then you will open your eyes on the dashing ridges before the unexpected glory, romance and size of its cliffs!", Was already in the mountain friend in the 18th Century to read. The Gaisstein is a little known but imposing lookout mountain, the north flank of which are formed by huge rock walls. This imposing view from a distance is due to the titles "Matterhorn of the Prealps" or "Matterhorn of the Waldgebirge".

We had an excellent hike with Michael who was a very knowledgable and experienced guide. He tailored the hike to the weather conditions ensuring that we had an enjoyable and safe hike. It was a great day in nature and we experienced gorgeous views of the Austrian pre-alps.

What an incredible hike! The views were unbelievable, we saw so many cool animals, and Michael was a terrific and knowledgeable guide. I am recovering from an ankle injury, and Michael took extra care to ensure I was safe throughout the hike.

A great trip! Location was perfect. The right amount of exercise. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area, history and local flora and fauna. Had nice opportunities for breaks and even though it rained, our guide had a backup plan that made the experience even more fun! Highly recommend this tour!

Our guide was fantastic- kind patient and full of historical knowledge-he also took a lot of nice photos that he shared with us- and he was really good about telling us upfront about weather giving us options etc

This private tour was truly incredible, and a great way to experience Austria and see some amazing views. Our tour guide was great and picked us up from our hotel and dropped us back after. He took us on a great trek and we even stopped for a drink in the mountains half way round. He was very professional and contacted us prior to the tour so we knew what to expect and what we needed to wear/bring. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience - would definitely recommend!

Loved the hike Michael arranged for me! It couldn't be better! I liked the fact that Michael suggested an option for the hike after listening my wish list and considering my hiking abilities. I got everything I wanted and even more! Spending overnight in the hut on the top of the mountain and seeing amazing sunset and beautiful sunrise - that wasn't on my list but thanks to Michael for that wonderful idea! Also it was nice to work with him getting ready for the tour and after. Michael was responding quickly to all my emails, gave me detailed instructions what to have for the hike, was making pictures during the hike using his camera and sent them to me after. My flight got delayed and I arrived much later, so he picked me up straight from the airport and we got back into the schedule. Hike itself was going through gorgeous places and I'm very happy with Michael's suggestion on that. I would highly recommend take Wiener Wandern tour and you can expect a professional service. I had a truly amazing time in Austrian Alps!
