After spending the evening in Strahan we have more time to explore the harbour-side village with a dark and fascinating convict past set on the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Take this relaxing cruise into the world's last great temperate rainforest, deep into Tasmania's World Heritage Area. This scenic cruise takes you along the world renowned Gordon River. This is done as an alternative for our other days activities and done at your own cost.
We visit this vast expanse of sand that extends 15kms along the coastline with dunes reaching 30 metres in height.
Imagine standing on a beach, gazing out at the ocean and knowing that the next landfall is South America, over 10,000km away. Ocean Beach is over 40km's of wild waves and West Coast Sunsets. Here we breathe in the worlds freshest air!
The Ship That Never Was
Based on a real event in 1834 'The Ship That Never Was' tells the dramatic and hilarious true story about the last Great Escape from Sarah Island. Optional extra.

Cataract Gorge Reserve
Enjoy time to explore the beautiful unique Cataract Gorge Reserve. This unique natural formation located just minutes from central Launceston has walking tracks, the world's longest single-span chairlift, a restaurant, cafe, a suspension bridge, panoramic lookouts with spectacular views, a swimming pool as well as native wildlife.
St Helens
A quick visit to the bustling fishing town to grab some lunch and check out the 'cray boats' in the harbour.
Binalong Bay
Famous for its crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches and orange lichen-covered granite boulders. If conditions are right then it's the perfect place for a swim.
Bicheno
Spend the evening exploring at your leisure this picturesque seaside town. Take in the sensational coastal views and sample some of the local fish and chips whilst keeping an eye out for the local wildlife including the migrating whales (in season).

Freycinet National Park
Here it is, the world famous Freycinet National Park. We beat the crowds by arriving early to explore this paradise. Walk to the lookout for panoramic views over Wineglass Bay. Then you can choose to relax at Wineglass Bay beach, or if you a looking for something a little more adventurous, choose the challenging climb of Mt Amos or take a beach walk.
Wineglass Bay Lookout
As part of our visit to the Freycinet National Park this lookout offers stunning views of Wineglass Bay.
Cape Tourville Lighthouse
Enjoy the stunning views from Cape Tourville out to the Tasman Sea and back towards the pink granite peaks of the Hazards Mountains and Wineglass Bay.

Pass through as we continue along the Great Eastern Drive.

5.00A whirlwind of an experience! Absolutely fabulous! To experience, the oldest rainforest on our earth was absolutely spiritual the mountain high waterfalls were so powerful the hike to cradle Mountain that aired forest such contrast that rainforest the beauty Tasmania hold is incredible

5.00If you really want to experience the best of tazmania without any worries, I do highly recommend this guys! Everything is very well planned: from transport, to accommodation, to breathtaking destinations! There is no way I could've found those places without this tour! Also, it is such good value for money! If you are lucky enough, you'll have Anthony as your tour guy: a dedicated, proffesional, down to earth guide with lots of knowledge. Last little tip: While in Strahan, if you have the opportunity to go to the theatre production: "The ship that never was", do not hesitate and go for it!

5.00Tasmania is a small reflection of New Zealand ( my own personal view). It's simple, not too busy , carefree country. Cheap if you are an Australian but quite expensive to travel there if you are foreigners from Asia or Europe.

5.00The absolute best your. I was worried about travelling for the first time by myself but this your was sooooo friendly, welcoming and so lovely. We got to see some amazing spots of Tasmania and the sun was beautiful over Cradle Mountain. Our guide Anthony was so informative and descriptive of the landscape, you could really tell he loves his home state. Thank you for everything!

5.00It’s hard to describe in words what I experienced in 5 days! The sheer diversity of Tasmania - beaches, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, rainforests, sand dunes, hikes, snow, wildlife, seafood, wine tasting, quiet little seaside towns. The unmatched energy of our driver-cum-guide Anthony. The brilliant pacing of things, which is so difficult to get right on a group tour - never did things feel rushed or tight. The motels were superb - clean and well appointed. I came back completely soul refreshed and this was easily one of the best holidays of my life! Just book it - it’s worth every single penny!

5.00With Tim as our tour guide/driver, we covered about 1400 km of Tasmanian wilderness in 5 days. We felt like we saw everything and then some! Tim was informative and a great storyteller, but definitely not annoying. He was also punctual, which is important when there is so much to do and see. The vehicle fit 20 people and was very comfy. I appreciated the well spaced breaks for bathrooms and snacks. We chose the motel option and each one was clean and comfortable. The itinerary is planned and full of great hikes, a boat tour, etc. We had a great time. Having done this tour, I can say that we would have never been able to navigate Tasmania on our own with this kind of efficiency and detail. Thank goodness for a knowledgeable and skilled driver!

5.00I recently joined the Famous 5 tour with Down Under Tours and had an exceptional experience. Our guide, Tim, was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and approachable. Accommodation in Strahan was very comfortable, featuring spacious rooms, cozy beds with electric blankets, and all the necessary amenities, including access to a communal microwave, washer, and dryer. The motel stays in Launceston and Bicheno were also of a high standard. The tour itself was very well-organised, offering full, activity-packed days that maximised the time we had. The small group size (a maximum of 24 people) made for a more personal and enjoyable experience. I met some wonderful people along the way, many of whom I’ll be keeping in touch with. Tim's genuine passion for his work greatly enhanced the trip, and I sincerely thank him for making it such a memorable journey. I had an incredible time and highly recommend Down Under Tours. I’ll definitely be booking with them again on my next visit to Tasmania.

5.00Had a wonderful time on Under Down Under’s Famous 5 tour. Great for solo travellers; I met so many amazing, like-minded people. Busy itinerary to make sure you see all the best spots. Our tour guide, Hadyn, was fantastic. Such a lovely guy who shared so many personal and historical stories and facts about Tasmania. Hadyn was so knowledgeable and personable and really went above and beyond to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. The tour wouldn’t have been the same without him. Thanks, Hadyn!

The locations were stunning, the organisation was top-notch, and Hadyn made everything feel easy and fun. We were lucky with wildlife sightings, great weather, and just an all-around perfect vibe.
