Kruja Bazaar
Kruja Bazaar is famous for being one of the oldest in Albania. The construction of the beautiful and fascinating marketplace of Krujë dates back over 400 years and was the starting point of free trade among the city’s most established merchants. It was in this particular bazaar that traders first began to officially exchange various kinds of goods with one another. Conveniently located on the main road leading to the Castle of Kruja, the space forms part of the museum while also serving its traditional commercial purpose.
Kruja Castle
Kruja is one of the most mentioned cities in the Albanian history. Kruja lies on the slope of the Kruja mountain, at an altitude of 608 m above sea level. The name and the importance of the city are closely related to the 25 years of activity of our national hero, Skanderbeg, who in the fifteenth century made Kruja a bastion of uncompromising resistance against the Ottoman. Kruja has a long list of attractions to offer tourists from the ancient castle nestled in the craggy rocks, two museums, stunning views, a nearby national park, sacred temples, natural springs, the ancient city ruins of Albanopolis, and the old bazaar. The Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg Museum is situated inside the castle walls, which date back to the fifth and sixth centuries A.D. The museum itself was inaugurated in 1981. Within the walls of the castle are also the Ethnographic Museum and the Dollma Tekke.

5.00We had a great trip to Kruja. Already in the car our guide Francis told us many interesting facts about Albania. In Kruja we had an interesting guided tour of the Skanderberg Museum and the castle . Afterwards there was still enough time to visit the old bazaar and have lunch. On the way back we were dropped off at the hotel. We really enjoyed the trip!!!

5.00This tour was exceptional! Redi our tour guide was awesome. Very knowledgeable, informative and a great conversationalist. We only wish we had him everyday with us. The content of the tour was great A+. The optional house your is a don’t miss as well!

3.00There wasn’t a whole lot to it. You just went up and supposedly looked at this castle. That’s not there anymore and went in a museum pretty views, but there wasn’t really a castle to look at. I had to do it over again. I would not do this.

5.00Amazing guide - very well-versed in Albanian history. He made the whole Skanderberg Museum visit even more interesting because of the depth of the information he shared. The trip was the right length for a day trip - we visited a few key locations in Kruja.
