We will once more enjoy an early breakfast and set off on our game drive at about 6:30 am, spending 6-7 hours exploring this incredible park. This will be the highlight day of the 5-Day Safari. The Serengeti is the habitat for an abundance of wildlife, such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo, but is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebras (two hundred and fifty thousand), wildebeest (one and a half million!), and antelope (half a million). The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. Apart from the migrating herds, we may see predators, such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions, plying their rough trade. At roughly 1400hrs. After an extensive game drive, we drive to the camp. It is now time to relax, dine, swim, and relive the memories you collected during the day.

This entire day is set aside for game drives upon the Serengeti. The Serengeti, the habitat of an abundance of wildlife such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo, is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebra, antelope, and wildebeest. The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. In November and December, the animals move from the northern region, dominated by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return to the north. Apart from the migrating herds, we may have the opportunity to see the resident predators, leopard, cheetah, and lion, fulfilling their role in the circle of life. After an unforgettable day, we will return to Kenzan tented camp (Kogatende) for relaxation, dinner, and our overnight sleep on The Endless Plain.

After our hearty breakfast, we head out to enjoy a full-day game drive in Central Serengeti. We endeavor to explore the range of different habitats found here that include the world-famous Serengeti short-grass plains. We will see the awesome sight of the great thronging herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time frame around January, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calves, dropping in the region of half a million young in this awesome act of synchronized birthing. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd. As our full day of adventure upon the ‘Endless Plain,’ we depart to our accommodation for dinner and Overnight. It is now time to relax, dine, swim, and relive the memories you collected during the day.

On this day we suggest a very early wake-up in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you'll ever witness. After the game drive, we return to the camp for a rewarding brunch, and then we'll proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th wonder of the Natural World. The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft high walls, making it virtually Noah's ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It's one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the Black Rhino. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. It's also famous for its elephants which, are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World. You will reach Ngorongoro in time for a sundowner. Option to downgrade or upgrade your accommodation level.

Early risers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the rising sun over the crater’s edge and, after a hearty breakfast, before embarking on our journey to the Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO world heritage site, one of the seven wonders of Africa, formed about three million years ago, is 610 m deep and covers roughly 260 square kilometers. Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25,000 ungulates, the crater offers the best game viewing of all the parks in Tanzania. In a matter of minutes, we will be able to see wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, elephant, and some of the more than 500 bird species here inhabiting. With a little bit of luck, we may catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch, we leave the crater in the afternoon to travel back to Arusha where we will be dropped at your accommodation or airport.

Upon our arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport on February 10th, we were greeted by our guide, Amani, who accompanied us throughout our six-day journey across the national parks in North Tanzania. Amani, with his friendly demeanor, professionalism, and thorough preparedness, immediately put us at ease. He provided comprehensive explanations about wildlife, nature, and Tanzanian culture, showcasing his deep knowledge of the parks and wildlife, and ensuring we spotted numerous animals, including the renowned Big Five and the impressive migration of zebras and wildebeests in the southern Serengeti. Moreover, Amani's fluency in both English and French, coupled with his exceptional driving skills, proved invaluable, particularly on challenging and muddy roads, especially after rainfall. Our itinerary included visits to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti, before concluding with a relaxing seaside retreat in Zanzibar. Throughout the journey, the organization overseen by Kanje was impeccable, with top-notch lodges, excellent cuisine, and well-considered schedules. In summary, we wholeheartedly endorse Kanje Grand Tours for a Tanzanian adventure, and Amani for his exceptional service and insightful commentary, which truly enhanced our family's unforgettable experience.

Over 18 years ago I spent a year volunteering in Arusha and during this time did a six day safari with a local company that I was able to select based on local knowledge. This time around I had to pick a company based on internet searches and reviews so was slightly mindful whether I would have the same experience as before. To my delight, Kanje grand tours- a Tanzanian owned company - met my expectations and then some. Innocent, managing director of the company, was attentive to my needs and budget from the outset. He listened to what I wanted and responded with an itinerary that was suitable for my young family. Our driver/guide and chef were equally attentive and flexible to the needs and patience of my 8 and 13 year olds. George was an amazing chef who ensured we had three hot and tasty meals a day. While other safari companies served sandwiches for lunch, George served up three course meals of deliciousness! Our kids loved every meal. From start to finish our safari met all expectations. We saw all of the hoped for animals and birds at close range. The driver/guide seemed to know everyone and worked the radio to keep tabs on the latest sightings. My wife said he was also a terrific driver and how we were driving in long wheel base Land Cruisers which are more comfortable. The drives were varied and breaks were spaced out to ensure our children did not get bored or frustrated. The guide was equally helpful in engaging and entertaining the kids. Our youngest delighted in learning a bit of Kiswahili. I would fully recommend Kanje grand tours. It provides great value for a really amazing safari, you're in safe hands, plus you're supporting the local economy.
