See, hear, smell, touch and taste on this full-day shore excursion from Tauranga. Experience the unique and special natural beauty of The Bay of Plenty. You will visit some out of the way spots that not everyone knows about and will go where the big buses don't. This tour is not a shuttle and will not drop you off anywhere to explore on your own. It is a fully guided small-group tour with a knowledgeable, fun and friendly tour guide. Along the way you will see and learn about the uniqueness that is New Zealand and you will learn about the geothermal region of Rotorua and its significance to the Maori people. We do not visit the commercial geothermal reserves on this tour, but we do see boiling mud pools, crystal clear bubbling hot springs, volcanic lakes and picturesque forests.

This was an enjoyable excursion, excellently guided by Simon who was knowledgeable and gave full and clear explanations of the things we saw. I would highly recommend this trip.

There was a lot of variety to our day and all of it helped us fall more in love with NZ. Our guide Simon was a retired teacher and knew how to present info.

Simon was personable and knowledgeable with great sense of humor. The redwood forest was amazing with tree walk and the hanging art. The vast size of the Rotorua caldera is an amazing site. Wish we had had more time

We enjoyed half of this tour very much. The walk in the redwood forest, on rope walkways high above the forest floor, was the highlight of this excursion. We enjoyed a quick stop to see the kiwi fruit plantation. After that, the trip’s pace was far too slow and detailed for most of our group. Rotorua Lake is pretty but not worth a half hour stop there. And our guide obviously was really most interested in showing us the geothermal pools in the city park, and while these were interesting, he took a really long time to show us every little pool, losing the interest of the tour group. I would suggest picking up the pace of the second half of the trip, perhaps visiting the park and hot pools before lunch and leaving the best for last.
