Hiking Time: 6–7 hours Distance: 10 km Habitat: Rainforest Details: After registration at Machame Gate, begin the trek through lush rainforest. The trail can be muddy and slippery, so trekking poles are useful. You’ll spot giant ferns, ancient trees, and maybe monkeys. Reach Machame Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Machame Camp (3,010m) → Shira Camp (3,845m)

Hiking Time: 6–7 hours Distance: 10 km Habitat: Semi-desert Details: This is an acclimatization day. You ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m), a volcanic rock formation, then descend to Barranco Camp. The climb-high, sleep-low principle helps your body adjust to altitude.
Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,960m) → Karanga Camp (3,995m)

Day 5: Karanga Camp (3,995m) → Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Hiking Time: 10–14 hours (Summit Day) Distance: 17 km Habitat: Arctic zone (summit), then rainforest (descent) Details: Wake around midnight for the summit push. The trail is steep and challenging, passing Stella Point (5,739m) before finally reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa! After celebrations and photos, descend to Mweka Camp for overnight.
Day 7: Mweka Camp (3,110m) → Mweka Gate (1,640m)

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours Distance: 10 km Habitat: Rainforest Details: A steady descent through rainforest leads to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. From here, transfer back to Moshi/Arusha.

5.00Climbing Kilimanjaro was an unforgettable experience, made even more special by the incredible team from Kilimanjaro Winners and Safaris. From the very beginning, their organization, professionalism, and attention to detail stood out. The guides were knowledgeable, patient, and always encouraging, making sure everyone stayed safe, motivated, and confident throughout the journey. One of the highlights of the trip was definitely the food. Considering the challenging conditions on the mountain, the meals exceeded all expectations. Every day we were served fresh, well-prepared dishes that were both nutritious and delicious. From hearty breakfasts to warm dinners after long hikes, the food gave us the energy we needed and felt like a comforting reward at the end of each day. The chefs did an amazing job maintaining variety and quality, even at high altitudes. The entire crew—from porters to guides—worked tirelessly to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Their positive attitude and teamwork created a great atmosphere and made the climb feel less daunting and more enjoyable. Reaching the summit was a proud and emotional moment, and it wouldn’t have been possible without such a dedicated and supportive team. 5.00I recently completed a 7-day Machame Route trek with Kilimanjaro Winners and Safaris, and it was truly the adventure of a lifetime. From start to finish, the team exceeded every expectation with their professionalism, organization, and genuine care. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, constantly sharing tips, checking on our health, and keeping the mood positive even on the toughest sections. Their encouragement played a huge role in helping us reach the summit safely. The porters were absolutely amazing friendly, hardworking, and always ready with a smile. Everything was set up perfectly each day, from warm water to comfortable tents. The food was delicious and far better than I ever expected on a mountain trek. Every meal was fresh, varied, and energizing exactly what we needed to keep going. The Machame Route itself is spectacular, offering beautiful forests, dramatic ridgelines, and sweeping summit views. The 7-day itinerary allowed for great acclimatization, and the pace was ideal. Summiting Uhuru Peak at sunrise is something I’ll never forget, and I owe a huge thank-you to Kilimanjaro Winners and Safaris for making it possible.
