IMPORTANT: Entrance in the monastery is only allowed with covered shoulders and covered knees. So please make sure you have appropriate clothes.
Often called the 8th wonder of the world, the Seven Rila lakes are legendary for their beauty and awesomeness. They are one of the most visited natural sites of Bulgaria. We combine them with a visit to the Rila Monastery. The Monastery of Saint Ivan of Rila, better known as the Rila Monastery is the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria.
The tour starts at 08:00 and finishes around 19:00.
The driver will pick you up, will take you to the Monastery and will show you around. After that he will take you to the lift to the 7 Rila Lakes, you will be able to go up to the lakes, the driver will stay down and wait for you there. When you come back, he will pick you from the lift and bring you back to Sofia.

5.00A first for Bulgaria and what a magic to discover Rila from its mountain to its Monastery. An incredibly fabulous hike of the 7 lakes. We were able to make 5 of the 7 lakes. Lack of time to finish the other two. The driver was waiting for us so we had to make this little sacrifice. The experience was fabulous, the scenery amazing. Maybe just a downside on time. The accumulation Monastery and 7 lakes does not seem to me the best choice when you want to take your time and soak up the place. However, if you have few days in Bulgaria, then go ahead, open your eyes wide and enjoy this magical break in the heart of the Bulgarian mountains. 4.00Everything perfect! You need mountains tools and good shoes. It Is not so Easy to walk with snow and ICE. But has been a beautiful experience !

5.00Had a great day. First visit to the Rila Monastery. The guide (Apostollos) brought us here early on, before the big hoos of tourists came. Being able to look around quietly and buy a loaf of bread on the advice of the guide and eat a special kind of "oliebol". Then we were taken by the guide to the lift station of the 7 Rila lakes. With a small group visited the first 5 lakes, a nice climb with beautiful views. There was too little time to do the 6th and 7th lake and we walked back to the beginning of the lift. All in all had a great day.

4.00The tour was very nice, Rila Monastery was worth it, good to realize that you don't get an hour there but 40 minutes, for us that was enough. The hike in the mountains was impressive but the tracks were impossible to follow due to the snow. We saw more 1, the rest not, later we understood that there was a better route, but because of the snow difficult to see. The guide indicated that 3 to 5 lakes are fine to do in the 3.5 hours we had, I wonder.

4.00Great experience altogether, there are a few improvement points, hence not the 5/5. But definitely highly recommend. The 7 lakes hike is not very well signed but it's not hard at all, even under snow. The driver could've asked if we wanted to listen to what he wanted at least.

5.00Fine guide, clear agreements and in winter the choice to walk through the snow or choose the spa. You have 4 hours of free time, don't go out alone but always with someone. In winter it is cold but if you are well prepared (thermo clothing + hiking boots) then you should be fine!

5.00It was a great tour. Alexander took us safe and comfortable. Filled us with a lot of history. Definitely a reliable option to go. I booked a tour on booking.com and they cancelled it last minute and I quickly booked this one on Viator. Unfortunately we could not hike upto the Rila lakes due to the bad weather and the snow storm. Will come back again next year, May or September to do the tour again with this company.

5.00I am grateful that I spontaneously found such a great offer. The Price quality ratio is right. The guide is very personable, has an enormous knowledge repertoire and humor. This combination makes the tour a unique experience in addition to the beauties of Bulgarian nature. The group quickly found connections through the guide and we became a good team.
