Our Ruakuri tour exceeded expectations. A terrific guide, Hayley gave wonderful explanations, was personable and cheerful, and we got a great sense of the history of the cave, the glow worms (of course), and some of the Māori significance if the area. Just the right amount of time, we didn’t rush, nor did it drag. The path was easy to navigate, well-lit and blended into the amazing rock sculpture. Good value for money, and not super crowded as these things can be.

Informative tour with a very friendly and knowledgeable local Māori guide Wii. Very interesting. The spiral entry was a clever design to accustom your eyes to the darkness. Plenty of glow worms to see and some great formations.

This was such a cool experience, going 70 metres below ground in a cave thousands of years old. The guide was great, brought out laughs and was very keen on making sure we were all good. Plenty of opportunities to take photos, and opportunities to just be as well.

The cave tour was both informative and interesting to see all the types of formations as well as the famous glow worms. The guide whose name I can’t remember but shortened was Wii made the tour with his humour great. It was relaxed, professional and easy to listen to, with a great passion for the caves. The tour started promptly and ran for the full 1.5 hours. Bring flat shoes and something to keep you warm for the colder cave. Not suitable for prams/ pushchairs or those with any difficulties in walking as the descent is via a spiral staircase like no other. I would recommend this tour as you see the sights in a comfortable paved tour with lots of opportunities to take photographs.

We would encourage you to consider this tour, which provided an insight into more than the glow worms! Morgan and George, provided an excellent overview! We enjoyed learning about the cave and its history. Thank you

The cave is a relatively easy walk and the cave itself is pretty spectacular. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. If you want to see glow worms and are up for a little walk I would highly recommend it.

Cool but not as cold as you might think. I wore a puffy coat and was very cozy. The path was very smooth. This was nice as my elderly father is able bodied, he just struggles in the dark. The pathway was pretty well lit so we just took our time and all was well!

We did the 90 minute cave walk after the nearby glow worm caves. Paddy our guide was excellent and the caves are amazing. He pointed out all sorts of interesting features along the way including more amazing glow worms. It was we worth doing as a follow up to the glow worm caves
