Learn to make "Hoto," a Yamanashi specialty, with local guides. This unique dish differs from udon in preparation and taste.

Start with wheat flour and water for the dough, ensuring even moisture distribution. Adding potato starch thickens the soup, enhancing warmth.

Next, flatten the dough and slice it. Hoto's distinctiveness comes from cooking noodles with ingredients, thickening the soup without needing salt, making it straightforward to prepare.

The primarily miso-based soup, traditionally made from homemade Koshu miso, incorporates various vegetables, offering a hearty and healthy meal.

A very fun experience and a great way to spend the afternoon, especially when it's so hot out. Our instructor was so friendly and we invited her to eat the hoto with us that we made. It was a very genuine experience and one of my favourite from fuji.

We went to Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi. I wanted to try Yamanashi's local food, so I participated in the experience of making hoto. The instructor explained everything very carefully and made it a very meaningful and wonderful time for us. The activity is indoors, so there is no need to worry even if the weather turns bad. The distance to the store is about a 15-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station.
