Get a taste of rural Cambodia with a visit to Koh Dach on the Mekong's shores. This sleepy island, known for its perfect representation of a village where the sands of time move at a much slower pace, straddles the Mekong River and is a tranquil respite from buzzing Phnom Penh.
It is home to a weaving community reviving the art of silk weaving and visitors can learn about this ancient skill from feeding up silkworms to spinning and dyeing techniques, or simply spend time exploring quiet local villages where workshops produce pottery and wooden handicrafts.
Only a stone’s throw away from Phnom Penh but worlds apart in experiences and Khmer encounters of the traditional kind.

Return transfers for this excursion apply only / are inclusive for customers staying in and inside Phnom Penh. Transfers outside these areas, including any accommodation outside this area such as Koh Dach, Tonle Bati, Oudong, any of the river and cruise ferry terminals and Phnom Penh International Airport are excluded. Supplements apply for customers who want to join this excursion outside one of these regions.
We will do all possible to comply with any dietary requirements during this excursion; it may not always be possible to confirm your wishes in advance based on the choice of local restaurant.
To avoid any issues pertaining obtaining an arrival visa at the airport, please ensure that your passport contains at least two empty pages. Failure to do so may result in not gaining entrance into the Kingdom of Cambodia.
We regret to inform you that this excursion is not suitable for wheelchair users. Guests are advised that some walking is required during this excursion; we always ensure that we take the most comfortable ways from the entrance of the sight to the sight itself.
We always will make efforts to confirm the exact pick-up time upon reservation. For any operational issues in which are not able to confirm the exact pick-up time in advance, we reserve the right to inform you the day before the departure of the tour.
Please note pickup and drop-off services may not be confirmed for customers staying at private residences, apartment complexes, or other non-registered tourism accommodations. Customers may be asked to meet at a nearby hotel for pick-up and drop off.

In the event of no-show or change of accommodation without prior consent and confirmation from us within 24 hours may result in the applicable cancellation charges as outlined in the terms and conditions.

Mekong Silk Island 099
A professional guide and its tuk tuk companion will wait for you at around 8 am in the hotel lobby. We depart by tuk tuk from your hotel and travel around 15 kilometres in northern direction towards the Mekong River and to this secret hideaway with ample couleure locale. Arrival at the main ferry pier and we cross over from the mainland to this 30 square kilometres’ large island, part of the southern tip of the Tonle Sap Lake. Once you are off the ferry, hop on your bike and cycle in a calm and relaxing way through the island on dusty and unpaved road for exploring the island which is bounded by views of rice paddies, vegetable farms and fruit orchards.
Koh Dach
Part of touring around the island is to get up and close with the handicraft centres of Koh Dach, stopping in to see the carvers, potters and weavers will be the highlight of the tour. Using traditional means, carried over from generation to generation, many of these items can be found at the various markets in the country. Although negotiations for pricing may be tough, prices are excellent as one cut out the middle man. You will enjoy a local lunch on the island at one of the better restaurants. While cycling back to the boat ferry, and still possess an appetite, your guide will make some recommended stops at local fruit plantations. You get a sample of the fruits of the season, straight from the farm. Crossing the ferry back to the mainland and we head back by tuk tuk to your hotel in Phnom Penh where we will arrive at around 3 pm.

2.00Don't be fooled with organized tours.... even if alone it was very difficult to get there especially because no one can give you directions. Take a tuk tuk with grab having it taken to: កំពង់ចម្លង ព្រែកលៀប កោះដាច់ កោះឧកញ៉ាតី Take the ferry with 500 khr and once you arrive evaluate whether to take a tuk tuk or rent bikes. Negotiate on the price of course for everything. To visit there is only Silk Island Community Center for a dollar for two people. To go only if you have nothing else to do. Not worth it

4.00Our guide was nice young and educated well. His behavior and sense were modern and understanding. He spoke good English and took us to the island by the cross ferry, where all cars and motorbikes went on. We took our bikes and cycled to the other end of island where we had lunch. On the way in hot sunny weather, we stopped for sugarcane juice treated by the guide and visited some farmers on the way. We ate unwashed tomatoes.... this wasn't smart of us, cause I had influenza fever diarrhea and everything else slowly after. It is best if they don't let tourists try out their local things that may not be hygienic. As for the silk factory, it was a nice tour. Detailed and nice environment to explore more of the place. Lastly, we had a nice lunch and the guide was very helpful. He made very nice artistic photos of us and videos and send it to us at end. We loved his style and initiative making secret recordings of us. They were nice! The cycle route was a bit too long in such hot weather. Luckily we didn't have to return on the bikes again to the ferry. When the tuktuk brought us to the next destination of our own program, he showed his dissatisfaction to us on the money we paid him additionally. The tour supposed to be 1 day tour and the day wasn't ended yet, but the guide left us already and the tuktuk driver was alone with us and trying to further rip us off. We didn't like that, so we called the guide to talk to him and it was sorted. That was not a pleasant moment.
