We from Awa Salu Kiteboarding Curacao, offer you premium, high quality kite lessons. We are looking out for you with a high focus on technique and safety.
We are located at the A-spot for kiteboarding on the mainland of Curaçao at the St. Joris bay. Before and after your lessons you can get the tips and watch the tricks of the local kiteboarder in their habitat.
The water is both shallow and deep, for practicing all aspects of kiteboarding. For the more advanced courses we practice walking the kite and launching and landing the kite on land.
Wondering if kiteboarding is for you? Learning to kiteboard is like learning to drive a car. A kid could learn it. After a couple of lessons, you will get the hang of it and go as slow or fast, high or low as you want to go.

During this 2 hour introduction course you will learn how to handle the machine of this sport: the kite. After setting up of the kite and the wind and safety briefing, you and your instructor will go into the water where you will learn to steer the kite and how to propel yourself on nothing more then wind power. Before and after your lessons you can get the tips and watch the tricks of the local kiteboarder in their habitat.

5.00My kiteboarding course with Kim was absolutely fantastic. She's a very good instructor and incredibly friendly! She managed to calm my nerves in no time and motivate me with positive feedback. By the end, I felt super confident with the kite and would have loved to book another day. Kim showed me various exercises with the kite. Even with my intermediate English skills, it was easy to follow the course, as she simply demonstrated the exercises herself on the kite, and I just had to copy her. She's incredibly empowering, and her good mood is simply contagious. Definitely book this course at the beginning of your stay in Curaçao, because by the end, you'll wish you had more time for a complete beginner's course. The kiteboarding spot is located in warm, shallow water. Non-kiters definitely need good sun protection, as the few shady spots are highly sought after. Thank you so much, Kim, for this amazing experience!

5.00Awa Salu was an incredible teacher who made learning to control a kite a fun and enjoyable experience for my two teenagers, aged 14 and 15. We spent a day at the kite-flying area, which was perfect for learning. The water was waist-deep and chest-deep, and there was a well-organized setup for three hours of learning, teaching, joking, and even a little drag and pullback. My kids had a great time and got a taste of what it feels like to control a kite. Don’t forget to bring water, sun protection (a hat with a strap), and water shoes.

5.00I had my first kite lesson here with Kim and we had a lot of fun right away. She is a great teacher who takes time to explain everything to you again or differently if necessary! I also took a few more hours with her because it was just super fun. She's happy with every little progress she makes. I can really recommend it to everyone to take a lesson here. The equipment was great and she provided me with pants and a long sleeve shirt as a sunblocker because I didn't have one.

5.00I can’t say enough about how friendly , supportive and patient Kim was with my wife on her day 1 kiteboarding demo . My wife was nervous and apprehensive about strapping on a kite , but Kim was so fun , chill and relaxed , and that definitely rubbed off on this first timer !! We are running out of days on this trip but will definitely be back to do the full course . If you are coming to Curaçao and want to learn to Kite , look no further than Kim at Awa Salu . She’s awesome !!!

5.00That's great. Kim kept going until I came back and forth. How sweet, cozy and a go-getter! Are you planning to learn kitesurfing, Sint Joris bay on Curaçao is a lovely place, long shallow, constant wind, and under Kim's guidance it should be good. She's strict, but smiling, and she won't give up. Moreover, she gives tips that I did not hear before at other schools! Kim, thank you! I'll be back.
Great way to get acquainted with kitesurfing - perfect environment and an enthusiastic teacher with humor (Kim).

5.00Great introduction to kitesurfing! Kimberley is a very enthusiastic teacher who can tailor a program, even if there are two of you. She gets you from "nothing to "something" in a few hours. Kim gives very good explanations with a lot of humor, so you remember the instructions well. During this introduction (of course including complete equipment) you will learn how to prepare the kite, learns about safety, kite control, power strokes, body dragging, etc. The area around St Joris Bay is very safe and the warm water and weather also contribute to a pleasant setting. After this introduction you will immediately know whether you want to continue with kitesurfing. For us that is a resounding "yes"; we would like to come back to Curacao again to take further lessons with Kim and Awa Salu. It was a wonderful experience to feel the power of the wind and gain control over it Be careful: the introductory lesson could easily lead to a new hobby!

5.00Enjoyed the kite lessons! Both the group lessons and the private lessons were with enthusiasm, positivity and gave me a very safe feeling. If you go kiting on Curaçao, you really have to go to Kim. Thank you for the nice days, and who knows, we'll see you back on the island soon 🇨🇼

5.00Our first kitesurfing lesson from Kim was great fun. First she took us through some theory and then we went into the water with the kite. Kim is very social, very helpful and I felt very comfortable with her. Highly recommended to take kitesurfing lessons here!
