Volcan De Acatenango Y Volcan De Pacaya
During the hike, we encounter four ecosystems with unique features. First, we see lush agricultural fields where farmers grow various crops, including corn and snow peas. Then, we enter a tropical cloud forest, teeming with diverse flora and fauna, providing shade and comfort for the steep ascent. Exiting the cloud forest, we enter a high-alpine forest offering stunning views of six volcanoes, where we enjoy a trail lunch. Afterward, we reach a wind-swept volcanic terrain where we camp at 12,300 ft / 3,750 m. Here, we enjoy dinner, coffee, and tea around the campfire with breathtaking views of Antigua Valley and Volcan Fuego, an unforgettable experience of watching volcanic eruptions and gazing at the star-filled sky.

After fueling up with an early morning breakfast, hikers embark on a 1-hour ascent to the summit of Acatenango. The climb may be steep, but the breathtaking views of Volcan Fuego, the Antigua Valley, and the Guatemalan highlands stretching all the way to Mexico make it all worthwhile. At the summit, guests will have a full 360-degree panoramic view to take in. After spending approximately an hour at the top (depending on weather and timing), we begin the three-hour descent back down the volcano, arriving at La Soledad and our waiting transportation by mid-day. Groups usually return to Antigua by early afternoon (~1:00 pm) with plenty of time to enjoy a celebratory beer, cappuccino, or a well-deserved siesta. Congratulations on conquering the volcano!

5.00Wow, what a great experience! Trek Guatemala does it right. Well prepared, pre-hike meeting the day before to set expectations and also to understand what we really need. They had everything new and clean from coats to fleece, hats, gloves, even back packs and head lamps. Our guides were very thoughtful for us being flat landers and we were headed to 12,000 feet. Lots of water and take it nice and easy. It was great too because we hand many private trails so no crowds bullying by us. Once we made it to camp we had our tents and elevated beds that were again in great condition. I must say this is the first time in my life I needed to sleep inside the sleeping bags which was warm. The view Fuego was very active for us amazing. The tea and coffee, snacks, dinner, breakfast, everything was great and well planned. I highly recommend Trek Guatemala if you’re planning this amazing adventure.

5.00After so much research I decided to go with Trek because they do small group with a private trail. Our tourist guides were Andres and Chris, and let me tell you they were amazing. They were incredibly helpful with our small group and constantly checked in to make sure we were doing okay with the high elevation. After the challenging hike, arriving at base camp to our glamping setup, complete with hot coffee and tea, was absolutely perfect. It made the whole experience even more special. I strongly recommend paying extra for the glamping option — it’s 100% worth it. Overall, an unforgettable experience with a fantastic tour company and even better guides! Thank you Andres and Chris- “final push”

5.00I highly recommend this tour. The group we had was small (other groups had up to 40 whereas our group was 12). The guides Andres and Chris were unbelievable. They kept pace and made us feel confident and successful on such a hard hike. They went above and beyond and gave us great post hike recommendations as well. The accommodation for glamping were great and the views were amazing. The company was very organized and well run.

5.00Amazing trip with breath taking views of eruptions and lava all night! Small group with glamping made it more comfortable and Trek staff was the best, Chris was super informative and Jahir had me laughing the whole hike! They made my trip very enjoyable. Definitely recommend booking with Trek. My wife and I will be doing this again with them in the future!

The best tour company to use for El Fuego! Comfortable camp with amazing views of the volcano. Just do it!
