South Slope of the Acropolis of Athens
As in every good story, everything begins with an introduction. It's not easy to tell the story of one of the most historically rich cities in the world. Yet, we aim to give our guests a broader perspective. That's why, at the beginning of the tour, we offer a concise lesson on the creation of human civilization, and then we place ancient Greek civilization — and Athens in particular — within that framework, so that people can truly understand its importance and contribution.
Theatre of Dionysus
The first monument we will see on our way up to the Acropolis is the Theatre of Dionysus — the first theatre in human history. This is where theatre and drama as a practice were born, and where the earliest plays — tragedies and comedies — were performed in front of the Athenian public. These plays were written by some of the most famous writers of all time, including Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus.

Harris was so knowledgeable and helped us learn about the history of the area back to 10,000 years BC. He was a very patient and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor! We had an amazing time and are leaving Athens knowing more about Greek history and even some life lessons. He paused to help take photos of us and knew all the best spots to stand. Amazing!!

Harris was an unbelievable tour guide. Immense knowledge of Greek and world history. He led many thoughtful and provoking dialogues with Greek history and what it can teach civilization today as a role model. Highly recommend.

think the tour is really worth it, because you can learn about the history of the Acropolis in much more detail. Otherwise, we would have only been able to look at the monuments without knowing what lies behind them. Thanks to Haralampos for taking the time and interest to explain everything to us. I don’t just recommend it 100%, I encourage anyone considering this experience to go for it. Haralampos is always attentive to every question, and the way he explains everything makes the tour engaging and enjoyable. At the end, he even invited us to reflect on what we had seen and heard, which made it even more special. I had never experienced that in other tours, and I loved it because it gave my partner and me the chance to truly reflect on the history of the place.

The fact is , we were never taught history in an interesting way, we were only supposed to mug it and get the grades and hence hitosry was always BORING. But Harris changed it all in a day. I guess 1000s of people visit Acropolis every day ( at least ot looks like that way ) - but with Harris , we didn't feel the crowd at all. Harris is not a tour guide...he is a historian - and we understood the difference that day. It wasn't a standard orchestrated commentary of a tour guide - it felt like a movie director tooknus back in time and showed us whatbhapoened at a spot , centuries ago...re create the scene ..with passion and emotion bubbling in his voice. It wasn't just about pantheon, who made it , dimensions ..blah blah blah..... but it was the whole story telling of what was the origination of theatre, the odeon, the mythology...the characters...with a very interesting debate on why one became popular than the other. Harris beautifully peels off the history layer by layer , taking us back through different ages and how Athens had been invaded abd rebuilt and repeat and repeat and repeat ....from Byzantines to the Ottomans to the medieval age and ancient Greeks - although I didn't win any candy :( ( oh yeah, you can win candies with Harris - that's the fun bit which was never done in our history classes ) But the bottom line is , it wasn't just a history tour ..what Harris ends up leaving you with is a deep philosophical messaging of why these structures were built probably , what's the purpose that our ancestors wanted to be passed on generations after generations to live a better life. We may forget the history, but we remember the lesson . Thanks for such a beautiful experience Harris. So, don't think twice and go for this one :) [ P.S - Harris is a true gentlemen , offered his umbrella first to the lady in the tour ]
