National Museum of Ethiopia
National Museum of Ethiopia, It contains many precious local archaeological finds such as fossilized remains of the most famous of which is "Lucy," the partial skeleton. Selam, found between 2000 and 2004. The basement is dedicated to archaeological and paleoanthropological sections. . The first floor contains objects from ancient and medieval periods, as well as regalia and memorabilia from former rulers, who include Emperor Haile Selassie. The second floor shows art work in a chronological order, from traditional to contemporary works. Afewerk Tekle's massive African Heritage is one of the most notable pieces. The second floor contains a collection of secular arts and crafts, including traditional weapons, jewellery, utensils, clothing and musical instruments. Finally, the third floor has an ethnographic display. Here, the museum tries to give an overview of the cultural richness and variety of the peoples of Ethiopia.
Mercato Market
Merkato is the largest open air market in Africa, covering several square miles and employing an estimated 13,000 people in 7,100 business entities. The primary merchandise passing through the Merkato is locally-grown agricultural products — most notably coffee.

5.00Excellent day tour led by the wonderful George and Abe. It began at the palace built by Menelik II then to the Ethnological Museum where we learned about Ethiopia's diverse cultures and Hallie Selassie II, and finally the National Museum which does an amazing breakdown of human activity in Ethiopia and across Africa. Seeing Lucy in person is surreal. Along the way we ate at the traditional Addis Ababa museum and got Ethiopian coffee which was delicious. Our tour guides were gracious and knew what they were talking about! I left the day more informed and appreciative I booked the tour!!!

5.00Packs a lot of sightseeing in one tour. Dagim is very knowledgeable and helpful. I lost my luggage and Dagim helped me negotiate some essential purchases in the Mercato. We also had an authentic lunch at a local dive.

5.00I spent 3 days in Addis Ababa before heading to Kenya to visit family, my first time visiting Ethiopia. I wanted to learn of the rich history and culture there. I reached out to Aman Ethiopia tours and wow they did not disappoint. The communication and professionalism was top tier, honest work ethic and integrity impeccable. My tour guide Abe reminded me of one of my College History Professors, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Ethiopia. I did the city tour on day 1, day 2 was given a personal driver to drive me around (had to check out a spa and do some shopping lol), day 3 was just wow, out in the country side visited the amazing Adadi Maryam Rock Hewn Church, Tiya Stele, and the Melka Kunture Archaeological Sites, all were breathtaking experiences!! Thank you Abe and The Aman tour team for helping create a life time memorable experience, looking forward to coming back soon!

5.00I had a wonderful day tour with Mr. Reta. He is a young and dynamic driver-guide who made the entire experience enjoyable. He explained everything clearly and made the journey interesting by showing all the important places along the way. I truly appreciated his professionalism, knowledge, and friendly attitude. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable tour!

5.00Tour was conducted by Abe Tola. All included attractions were visited and all were worthwhile. Abe's English was not the best but otherwise was an excellent guide. Abe was very knowledgeable and conducted an excellent tour of the National Museum, Entolo Hills, and the Merkato Market.

5.00Joseph was a fine guide with knowledge about his country. He was a gentle guide from the pickup at the airport until the drop off at the hotel. The city tour is a must if ever someone is visiting Eddis .The palace, the national museum and the view of the city from the mountain plus major roads that shows how this city is .I recommend this excursion.

5.00This tour is a great way to see the city and the museums either if you are here for a short or extended period of time. The guide Kalab was very knowledgeable of the exhibits in the museum and about Ethiopian culture. Taking me to the national, ethnological museums. Along with a view of the city and the largest market in Africa, the Merkato. . Was also very friendly and could talk about any subject. Would highly recommend this tour.

I would just like to offer my thanks and commend Joseph as he was excellent! 🙂Joseph was very knowledgeable of Addis Ababa and Ethiopia’s history, communicated that knowledge very well and provided an excellent tour of this city. 🙂 Thanks very much Joseph! 🙂 PS. The car that Joseph brought along for the tour (a white BYD) was also great (much better than a Tesla!) - I highly recommend this tour! 🙂

5.00Although today's weather is normal. Many markets in Ethiopia are not open on Sunday, but it's a good tour guide. Teddon changed the schedule for me and my flight was delayed. The program calculated a good time to transfer me to the museum and explained a lot of local history and politics and culture with me. Definitely promised!
