At 3,200 meters in elevation, Entoto Hill is sort of the roof of Addis Ababa. Driving up the steep road, you’ll pass homes and small villages, highland growth, and as you gain elevation you’ll start to get great views of Addis Ababa (on a clear day). Menelik II built his palace on the Entoto Hill and used it as his headquarters during the founding of Addis Ababa. Towards the top of Entoto Hill is Entoto Maryam Cathedral, or St. Mary’s it’s worth a stop cathedral including the museum as well. then onwards to the National Museum of Ethiopia. on the way back from Entoto Hill, stop by the Shiro Meda Local market sells Ethiopian textiles in all their forms,

Mount Entoto
we will drive uphill to Entoto, which once was Emperor Minilik II’s permanent camp. Driving the hill there is a considerable drop in altitude and the air is filled with the scent of the Eucalyptus trees which cover the area. From the top, there is a panoramic view of the capital and surrounding countryside. Please note that entrance fee to the Entoto park is not included, If you wish to enter the park the cost will be 9USD/Person durations: 35 minutes
Menelik palace
It is a historical place where Emperor Menelik II resided and built his palace, when he came from Ankober and founded Addis Ababa. It is considered a sacred mountain and has many monasteries. Mount Entoto is also the location of a number of celebrated churches, including Saint Raguel and Saint Mary.[1] The mountain is densely covered by eucalyptus trees that were imported from Australia during the reign of Menelik II, and mostly planted during Emperor Haile Selassie's reign. Thus, it is sometimes referred to as the "lung of Addis Ababa". The forest on the mountain is an important source of firewood for the city. It was also a source of building material in earlier times. durations: 1 hour

Yonas reached out immediately after I booked this tour online & communicated details such as what I should wear & bring & the time at which I would be picked up from my hotel. The tour was fantastic - a good variety of sights in Addis Ababa. Eyob was a great driver - navigated all the city traffic with ease. Teddy was an excellent guide - friendly, professional, & informative. He clearly loves his country & is eager to share his knowledge & perspectives. Teddy invited questions about Addis Ababa & Ethiopia & he solicited input regarding my interests so that he could tailor the tour to deliver the highest level of client satisfaction. 5.00We had a long layover in Addis Ababa and booking a tour with Yonas was a great way to experience the city in a short amount of time! He was very friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about sharing Ethiopian culture and history. The tour was personalized and flexible rather than overly structured. Yonas customized the itinerary based on our interests and shared a lot about Addis Ababa’s history, culture, and everyday life along the way. He also made sure we were comfortable and taken care of throughout the experience. If you have a layover in Addis Ababa or want a more personal introduction to the city, I’d definitely recommend touring with Yonas.

5.00Our Addis Ababa Tour with Teddy was the absolute highlight of our travels. It didn't feel like a standard sightseeing excursion; rather, it was a deeply personal journey through Addis that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. What made this experience so magical was our incredible guide, Teddy. His deep love for the local culture, history, and people truly shone through. Not only was he profoundly knowledgeable, but their warmth and flexibility made us feel like we were exploring the city alongside a lifelong friend. We were able to tailor the tour to what we wanted to see. He took us to the Marcado on my request which was exciting. A bustling market with vendors of all kinds. He was able to negotiate fair prices for the items we purchased. We also visited the Tomoca Coffee House where we learned the history of Ethiopian Coffee making . We also visited the National Museum of Ethiopia to visit the archeological exhibits including the old fossil of Lucy. Teddy has such a wealth of knowledge around what we were seeing and visiting at the museum. It truly made the experience memorable and informative. We also visited the top of Mount Entoto for beautiful views of the entire city surrounded by eucalyptus trees. For background I was traveling with my 82 year old father and Teddy was extremely attentive to his needs. Whether it was making sure he was safe, helping him cross the street, negotiating fair prices etc. I am truly impressed by his duty of care. We had a fantastic lunch at a very nice restaurant and enjoyed the extra time with our guide. Places visited: Marcado National Museum of Ethiopia Tomoca Coffee House Mount Entoto Yekatit Square Menelik Square II Beautiful Parks Tiglachin Memorial Every detail felt thoughtfully curated to ensure we experienced the authentic heart of the destination rather than just checking off tourist boxes. If you are looking for a meaningful, deeply immersive, and expertly guided experience, look no further than than this tour and request Teddy! 5.00I had the privilege to explore Addis ababa natural beauty in my own eye in May 2026. It was a great experience with Yonas who strongly recommend by my one of my colleagues, his story telling skills and historical knowledge about the city was so impressive . He took me to Mount Entoto for great views and showed me key city landmarks, giving me a well-rounded experience of Addis Ababa as i am a mountain lover. He also helped me while shopping, visit the local market, and explore leather shops easily. Everything went well and his service was professional and excellent. I highly recommend Yonas.

5.00The tour was super flexible and really customized to what I wanted. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Eyob (the driver) and Addisu (the guide) were both friendly, professional, and really helpful. Yonas was also great—he called after I booked to explain everything, checked in during the trip, and followed up afterward. If you’re booking as a solo traveler, it’s basically a private tour, which was awesome. I got to visit the Ethiopian Museum, grab coffee at Tomoca, see some historical landmarks, spend time at Entoto Park, and explore Mercato and other shopping centers. Addisu was especially helpful while shopping—he helped me bargain and made buying souvenirs a lot easier. Overall, it was a great experience with really warm and friendly service.

5.00It was great experience with Yonas I booked Yonas last minute, and he arrived right on time for pickup. Although I booked a 3.5-hour tour, he went above and beyond and never rushed me. He took me to Mount Entoto for great views and showed me key city landmarks, giving me a well-rounded experience of Addis Ababa. He also helped me while shopping, connecting me with locals for good prices. I was able to buy coffee, visit the local market, and explore leather shops easily. Along the way, he shared a lot about Ethiopian culture and history, which made the tour even more meaningful. Everything went smoothly, and his service was professional and excellent. I highly recommend Yonas.

5.00A great tour of Addis Ababa. Yoans my guide was friendly, provided useful information and showed me the great city, including tasting local food and drink. There was an option to personalise the tour too but I was happy to let Yoans provide a tour on his experience and knowledge, which I would recommend others also do. Thank you for a great tour and for being an excellent guide.
