Your ticket to the place where Sigmund Freud changed the world! Berggasse 19, 1090 Vienna. Freud lived here with his family and maintained his world-famous ordination for nearly 50 years. A permanent exhibition introduces you to the work and family life of one of history's most important thinkers. Learn more about psychoanalysis and the Freud family! Original objects and furniture give you the atmosphere of Freud's apartment, while unique films from the 1930s show the Freuds' private lives. Changing special exhibitions and a conceptual art collection make references to the present. A cosy café and a well-stocked shop offer you the opportunity to end the visit and take souvenirs or books with you.

5.00Very interesting and exciting. A visit to the Sigmund Freud Museum at Berggasse 19 is not simply a tourist attraction, but a real immersion in the origins of psychoanalysis and the life of one of the most influential minds of the twentieth century.

5.00Absolutely worth a visit. We spent ages reading through everything and studying the exhibits. There’s also an exhibition on the Anschluss and effect on the Viennese Jews. Interesting and very moving.

5.00Worth it if you are interested in the history of Freud. I would not suggest if you did not know him or his work. It gives great detail in the history of the man.

5.00This is a very well curated museum. The apartment in which Freud and his family lived is well conserved and his story is told through a rich collection of objects and pictures. The texts are concise and focus on the most relevant issues. There is a wonderful family video recorded by Anna Freud, showing his father in Vienna, Paris and London. Unpretentious though some of the correspondence with Einstein and others is impressive.

3.00I think I expected a better setting, more of the time, that would allow you to feel that you are really there where he was...beyond the objects (I can understand the difficulty in contributing or getting them), I think that the setting of the house itself is too modern and stripped, painted even white, being that you have the record of what it was at that time... something totally opposite. With another museum concept, the essence of what was your home and workplace could be conveyed more. Finally, the texts that accompany the exhibition are somewhat lengthy and tedious, sometimes at points that are not the most important.
Very interesting if you are interested in Freud's line of work

4.00I work in this field so it was very special to visit the house where Freud began his work and where he lived for nearly 50 years. There are only a few exhibits so in our opinion it is nowhere near as interesting as his house in Hampstead where his original couch and artifacts are but we wanted to see this location and are glad we went.
A lot of new information about the life of Sigmund Freud.

5.00The tour was very informative! Lots of interesting topics. I particularly liked the relation to the present and how psychoanalysis has evolved. I also liked the entire exhibition concept!
