  Wandering Owl has years of experience in the business and it reflects clearly in the professionalism of the team. I’ve gone on 3 tours with them (a day and 2 night tours) and the experience across is impressively consistent, with the guides full of character and knowledge of the area. Sophie and Chris led the way on my first night chasing the lights, Bart on the 2nd and Anna on my day trip. They explained everything there is to know about the lights, shared the local folklore and made sure everyone is comfortable. Big shoutout to Bart for being the solo operator for my night two. We had some hiccups with people being careless with their objects but he remained patient throughout and he ran everything alone seamlessly - driving, guiding, spotting the lights, and I walked away with a fantastic experience and nights to remember. Forget the fly by night operators that look to make a quick buck off seasonal activities. If you are planning a trip to Tromso, going with Wandering Owl is a no-brainer.

  An amazing experience for us to visit Tromso and see the Northern Lights. Wandering Owl organisation was spot-on, with every detailed covered. At no time before or during our experience was anything lacking. Bart - our guide - was sensational. A total professional who's knowledge was incredible, his passion obvious for us all to see! Bart was relentless in finding the lights for us, hell-bent on making this experience for us one never to forget - he succeeded on all accounts. Where we stopped in the middle of a remote national park above a 'frozen' river near the Swedish border was mesmerising, as was Barts explanation of the Northern Lights. We cannot recommend Wandering Owl more highly. And with Bart as our guide (and an entertaining one at that!) a better experience could not have been had.   Words cannot describe how absolutely amazing this experience was. We had such an unbelievable time with our tour guide Bart, who went through all the efforts to make sure we were comfortable, warm, and happy. The experience of seeing the aurora borealis was insane, and Bart took the trip even further with his knowledge and information. From seeing the northern lights, to sitting around a bonfire on the side of a mountain drinking hot chocolates, I couldn’t recommend this trip enough. The bus was a nice and modern sprinter, and our driver was lovely too!! Bart made sure we pulled over every time there was activity in the sky to make sure we got out moneys worth for the trip, and he also knew of many cool spots to stop for pictures. Everyone got so many professional pictures done by Bart which arrived in our emails very fast. Thanks a million for such a lovely experience!!!

  Bart was an amazing guide and he made this an unforgettable experience. He chose a great spot to stay and kept us warm throughout the night with lots of food and warm snacks. I would highly recommend booking a tour with him, you won’t regret it.

  We hired the small group tour (8 + 1 guide) with Wandering Owl with the illusion of being able to experience a natural phenomenon as extraordinary, unpredictable, random as that of the auroras. Our guide, driver, photographer, aurora hunter and chef was Bart, who at all times worked tirelessly to make the experience wonderful. I don't let us down at any point. We only have words of thanks for your commitment and attitude that made us leave Tromso with the highest expectations. I recommend the small group experience 100% above the excursions of more participants. To keep in mind, at least in January, make sure to dress with layers and invest in excellent stockings and good shoes.

  Absolutely brilliant. Guide Sophie? and driver Michael were really good. Yes we had a long drive to see the lights but they were spectacular. Excellent information given on the way, beautiful pictures (have enlarged one as a print). Snack was good. Yes it was cold but they provided warm clothing and boots for us. Driving was superb - not easy but Michael was an expert.

  We did this tour with Wandering Owl for 4 nights. It was amazing. Note that they have several options: Standard, Adult Only, and Express (not sure if all options are available on Viator but you can check their website as well). We ended up doing each of the different options as we loved our tour guide so much. Sophie was amazing and so informative. The Standard and Adult Only included a camp fire to stay warm. Difference was standard had a max of 15 people and Adult Only had a max of 8 people. We enjoyed both but the coziness of a smaller group is hard to come by. Both the Standard and Adult only tours take photos of you with the northern lights which are then emailed to you for free. The Express tour starts later in the evening making it a good choice if you have a day activity. It's a shorter tour so you're not going to be driving out far in search of the Green Lady. Also, photos are not free but you can purchase them afterwards. We also went to different locations each night so you will unlikely end up at the same location. Fortunately, we did not have to drive all the way into Finland in search of northern lights during our trip, but it is a possibility. When the weather is not favorable (as on our 2nd night), you will be informed with the opportunity to reschedule. We really enjoyed our tour either way but we loved the small group and amenities included with the Adult Only tour. If you had 1 opportunity, I would consider that, however the Standard tour is cheaper but with a slightly bigger group. Both were great and you'll meet people from around the world.

  Bart was an amazing guide. It is not that easy to "find" the Northern Lights and Bart made a super effort to make sure that we would see it.

  Great experience on chasing for auroras. Although the bad and changing weather Bart, the guide, was super decided to find them and we could saw auroras up to in 4 different locations. Thanks Bart for the perseverance!
