All worked very well, finally. Only what caused a bit concern was that the voucher arrived only one day before the trip (as the trains are often fully booked I made my reservation more than week before). As a first timer in booking tickets via Viator I was a bit unsure whether the ticket would be delivered or not. It also surprised that I got only voucher, not the ticket. However, after whatsapp information I learned day before that the ticket would be delivered to my hotel and the guy was there exactly as promised. He also instructed me very carefully about the procedures at the railway station. All good :-)

Avoid GoToUzbekistan at all costs. I booked guaranteed high-speed train tickets from Bukhara to Samarkand and Samarkand to Tashkent through Viator, and this was without question the most stressful experience of our entire trip. Several days before our scheduled travel date Monday, March 30, I still had not received any ticket information. I contacted GoToUzbekistan multiple times through Viator and was repeatedly told they would “send it soon” and that they were “working on it.” This turned into frustrating back-and-forth messages on WhatsApp and phone calls, with the same promise: “we will send soon.” To make matters even more confusing, the day before our Bukhara to Samarkand journey, they sent us our Samarkand to Tashkent high-speed train tickets for Thursday, April 2, yet still failed to send the tickets we actually needed first. At that point, I assumed the Bukhara to Samarkand tickets would follow shortly. They never did. At 6am Monday, March 30, we still had nothing. At 9am, they messaged saying "Its 15:02 train. We will send you soon". Then another message "We will send you by WhatsApp soon". Even Viator attempted to contact them and was unable to reach anyone. By around 10:00 AM, we were extremely worried. Our hotel even tried calling GoToUzbekistan on our behalf, only to find the line was going to a “not in service" message. We had to be in Samarkand by 5:30 PM that day, and the train was due to depart Bukhara at 3:00 PM. The main reason we booked the high-speed train was because it was supposed to be a 2-hour journey. By noon, we still had no tickets, and with a 30-minute drive to the station from the hotel, we could no longer afford to wait around to see if the tickets would show up. So risky. So we had no choice but to pay extra out of pocket and have the hotel urgently arrange a taxi so we could get to Samarkand ON TIME. What should have been a 2-hour high-speed train journey turned into a 5-hour car drive from Bukhara to Samarkand. Advertising “guaranteed” train passes and then completely failing to provide them, while ignoring customers on the day of travel, is unacceptable and highly misleading. This caused unnecessary stress, additional expense, and seriously disrupted our trip. I would strongly caution anyone considering booking with this company. Based on our experience, they were unreliable, unresponsive, and failed to provide the service they sold. Frankly, Viator should not be doing business with a company that already has so many negative reviews. I regret not reading them beforehand. Viator also failed to make the situation right — despite the circumstances, they refused to arrange or reimburse the taxi we were forced to pay for because of THEIR supplier’s failure. What kind of service is this when customers do not receive tickets at least 24 hours before travel? Nowhere did it say that we might have to wait until the very last minute. I don't understand how we got our Samarkand to Tashkent tickets early but not the ones we needed from Bukhara to Samarkand. Based on how this was handled, it gave the impression that the tickets may not have actually been secured despite being advertised as “guaranteed.” Also, how unprofessional to send tickets via whatsapp last minute on the day of travel, what if there are wifi issues? What if the passenger doesn't have connectivity? Unbelievable. Disgusting service from both the local operator GoToUzbekistan and Viator.

The trip went well, but the lack of clarity, no details and no communication made me think I was going to get scammed. Viator contacted me quick, but the organizer’s phone number was not responding. Only until the day before the departure he got in contact and shared his whatsapp, and even then it took some time for him to be honest and tell me that they had to re-book my tickets. I would book directly through Afrosyob website if I had to do it again.

Ich komme wieder 👍🏽 Johannes ============================ Ramat - Thank you Uzbekistan, thank you Tourist Police, thank you Sultan and friends! When it happens to you on vacation abroad that you leave one iPhone in the hotel, then in a rush forget your iPad in a taxi, and only realize the loss on the Afrosiyob high-speed train from Samarkand to Bukhara, you usually write those devices off—unless you meet Sultan. Sultan is a tourist police officer who travels daily on the Afrosiyob train between Tashkent and Bukhara as a companion and point of contact for passengers. When he heard about my mishap, he immediately offered his help: to collect both devices in Samarkand the next day and bring them to me. Since there were difficulties on the part of the hotel and the taxi driver in getting the devices to the station, he quickly organized the pickup with several friends on site, one of whom even works at the prosecutor's office. Just 24 hours later, I was able to receive both devices safely at Bukhara station from the hands of the police—along with a short and very friendly conversation. Police in other countries have helped me several times during my travels, but I have never experienced this level of commitment, integrity, and kindness. Many thanks to the entire Tourist Police of Uzbekistan and to the exemplary officer Sultan from Afrosiyob train No. 770. Uzbekistan can be truly proud of such public servants. I will definitely come back 👍🏽 Johannes ============================ Ramat - Thank you, Uzbekistan, thank you tourist police, thank you Sultan and his friends! Well this was initially the hardest thing to book . The English version of the rail website is very glitchy and didn’t work for me . Ibrahim at Go was so helpful - seats booked and transfers to stations both times . He’s a bit of magician though as the trains sell out very early on - even showing as full ! Recommend ! We met him and a very friendly hospitable guy .

- -Ticket for Afrosiyob fast train is provided only one day before departure, while full payment had been made far in advance. This creates uncertainties for customers. - No choice for economy class - Nonetheless, the service for booking online is helpfull as purchasing tickets from official website is not possible

This is a scam. Do not use the train ticket service. It is unreliable and extremely expensive. You may not get the tickets you pay for. The operator resells train tickets at a massive markup but they are selling tickets they do not hold. They wait for cancelled tickets to become available and sell them on. We were told this is likely illegal, involving on selling of tickets issued to civil servants. There is also nothing to stop you just monitoring the cancellations yourself on the official website and paying far less. Even if that doesn’t bother you, the real problem is that the tickets may not even become available - there is no guarantee. In our case we paid $280 for $100 of tickets and THERE WERE NO TICKETS. The operator contacted us a few hours before we were due to travel and informed us no tickets were available. We then experienced a very stressful morning rescheduling and trying to find alternative options. Avoid this service unless you want to risk being left with your plans disrupted, and no travel options. Viator really should not be hosting this provider.
