The after dark feeding tour is an experience that is unique to Devils@Cradle. This tour provides an unforgettable experience, and the opportunity to observe these extraordinary animals whilst one of our keepers gives you a greater understanding of them, and details the conservation work being undertaken within the facility. Devils and quolls are primarily nocturnal species, therefore are far more active at night, and the introduction of food generally stimulates some fierce competition between them. We use environmentally sensitive lighting and focus on the social interactions and feeding habits of these unique carnivores, allowing visitors a rare up close opportunity of seeing Tasmanian devils in a group feeding situation - quite a spectacular sight!

Devils at Cradle
Guests are able to arrive prior to the tour start time and self-guide within the sanctuary until the commencement of the tour. The after dark feeding tour begins with a brief introduction to the three species managed within the sanctuary on our main viewing deck. Followed by the larger part of the tour, involving a guided walk outside, within the sanctuary itself. The tour guide will enter the enclosures and feed a number of these animals whilst interpreting their behaviour and discussing biology, threats and conservation; answering any questions visitors may have.

5.00You can see the dedication for these devils in the way they are housed. Clean, spacious runs, and well looked after by keepers. Our tour guide was vey knowledgeable and battled on even though it was raining and some of the animals did not want to appear. Definitely a go to place in Cradle Mountain

5.00This is a must do tour when in Cradle Mountain, the knowledge of the team, the facilities and information shared is beyond expectations. We had a great time as a family, taking photos, hearing all about Tasmanian Devils and the other protected animals at the facility. The staff are so passionate and knowledgable the experience is fantastic, highly recommended.

5.00Cradle Mountain was spectacular, fun, with lots to do- the night tour was really great- waking around Dove lake was lovely and wonderful to walk around, the bus system to get everyone through the park so well organised, We saw a Tasmanian Devil in the wild at the end of the night tour!! So many wombats and quolls at night. Beautiful and suits all fitness levels. Gorgeous accommodation and excellent eating places.

5.00Great experience to see Devils and Quolls. Easy to park, warm welcome. Great tour guide who gave us so much information with a good sense of humour. Offered historical reflections and advice to improve the future of these amazing animals. Loved seeing the animals feeding. Highly recommend this activity. ( only minutes drive from Peppers at Cradle Mountain)

5.00This was a once in a lifetime experience, getting to see how Tasmanian devils feed. We even got to see them jockey for position about who got to eat first. You could actually hear the bones crunching as they chew - they eat absolutely everything. In addition to the experience itself, we also had the privilege of a masterful guide lady. She taught us so many different facts about devils and quolls. She was also kind enough to answer all of our burning questions. Overall, great experience. I’d highly recommend it. P.S. while in the car park waiting to get in we saw a leucistic wallaby, a regular wallaby and a wombat feeding at dusk in the forest. So maybe you’ll even get a pre-show!
