  What a fantastic day. Cassie was an amazing host, what a delightful young lady. She guided us through our gin making experience and was very knowledgeable. The gins we sampled were well recommended and very nice. Purchased a few christmas presents too. Cassie is a credit to The Spirit of Wales Distillery 👏 👏

  Brilliant experience with a fun guide. Upgraded to a distilling experience, and happy that we did, entertaining and educational with a bundle of fun called Molly to tell us and show us it all.

  We had a great time at the distillery yesterday (22.03.25). Molly & Cassie did a sterling job. We had a greeting drink upon arrival before going on to see the stainless steel tanks in the distillery (both named after the founder’s daughters) and enjoying some gin, vodka & rum samples. After the sampling, we headed back to the cosy bar for another drink. When we arrived, there was a group making their own spirits (gin/vodka/rum). We didn’t realise that this was an option, so we will definitely be back to do that. In short: a small unassuming place but oh, so fine. Molly & Cassie are first class hosts, taking care of you and answering any questions you may have. Needless to say, a few bottles were bought. Everything tasted sssooo good. Note: do not drive to this event as you will miss out on the delicious tastes that await you. See you again soon!

  I have thought twice about writing this review, because I feel terrible for the poor lady that was working yesterday - she, herself was lovely and done all that she could. Our first experience was cancelled a few days prior because of a staffing issue - which was fine. We booked a new date, no problem. Except it seemed there was a staffing issue on the day too. I dont think the lady mentioned her name but she was left on her own to deal with quite a few people arriving for the tour and for the rum making experience (which is what we had done). There was no clean glasses available for welcome drinks and there was no mixers for the drinks available. Then we where kind of just left to it, we had to ask her over to help once or twice as nothing was explained to us on getting everything up and running. (We felt terrible for asking - because she was on her own dealing with so many people). Once sorted, everything was fine. The tour was a warehouse, with a little wooden bar and 2 distillers (that I could see - from where I was stood) the lady had to read from a script and I suppose I would have her to have abit of knowledge but it seemed not. The tasting was half a shot glass, half of the bottles at the prop up bar was empty and she had to look for more within the warehouse. The tour was such a let down I have to be honest. We then went back to our stil's and finished off making our rum (which is absolutely disgusting - but that's our fault not theirs haha). The only way I can describe it, is as total unorganised chaos and its not cheap either, along with the experience I had to sort and pay for lifts and a sitter etc for our very rare date day. I'm sat feeling like a should have put that money elsewhere as I just feel we unfortunately didn't get the experience some of the great reviewers have had and because of that, I wouldnt recommend this experience for friends.

  My partner and I visited Spirit of Wales Distillery for a Make Your Own tour today, and it was fantastic! We had a drink on arrival and then started the gin-making process with expert guidance. As our still did its' work, we toured the rest of the unit and sampled some of the fabulous tipples made there. We got to take home our unique gin, along with an additional purchase of the Dark Cherry Rum Liquor, which is absolutely delicious. Learned loads, drank a bit, had a fantastic time.   Bought for us by friends as a birthday gift we had not heard of the distillery before. Having done many big brand tours previously (Guinness, Remy, Heineken, Jamesons and even local Brecon's Penderyn...) this is a very small scale on comparison but does it's best with some great sampling and passionate chat. Less of a tour and more of a warehouse single room lecture, you get educated on the process of making a range of spirits whilst encouraging questions all of which were answered well, showing the knowledge and unscripted passion for what this business does. Several generous samples to taste and with a drink before and after, definitely book a taxi! Small scale but something for Newport to get behind and be proud of. We will recommend it

  We arrived Friday 25th August straight away there were 2 girls operating the tour. Not very friendly and was more interested than talking between themselves. In the actual distillery the tasting was really rushed and the one girl was reading a script off her phone about the distilling process, not really knowing what she was talking about. I thought that we would be making our own cocktail but was programmed into making two that was standard and not our choice. I have been to many cocktail and whisky experience and bar far this was the worse one that I have been to The two girls showed no passion for their job. All I can say is the price of the tour covered our couple of cocktails. I think a review into mixologist is needed and a greater knowledge of the product that they are selling Not very interesting evening
