The origin of the Real Alcazar of Seville dates from the time of the High Middle Ages, although some areas of Islamic art that impress with its delicacy are preserved. In any case, Mudejar art and Gothic style predominate, but Renaissance and Baroque elements were added later.
Over the centuries, it has been the residence of the members of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville. Even today, it remains for the exclusive use of royalty, except for tourist visits.
This complex includes many wonderful features. The quaintest is the Patio de las Doncellas, with its ponds that reflect the intricate mudéjar plasterwork for which this palace is known for.

5.00I don’t always book tours with a guide but I am so glad that I did for this one. Alvaro was engaging and knowledgeable. Our tour lasted 1.5 hours, but honestly I could have doubled that time. We stayed another hour walking the grounds. Great visit!
The tour that never happened

1.00I booked the tour very well in advance because I knew it would be busy. A few days before the due date Naturanda messaged me to say they could not do the time booked due to logistical reasons, and asked if I could do 3 hours later, which I agreed to. The day after I received another message saying they couldn’t do that time either and asked if I could do later still. This later time was too late as it would have interfered with our dinner reservation. I told them this was no good and asked for a refund. I was told on the phone that I had booked through a third party and would have to go to them for a refund. When I checked back I could see I had only dealt with Naturanda, the payment had gone to them, so I messaged them to say this. In the meantime, on the day the tour was meant to have happened, Naturanda messaged me again to say they were sorry but they couldn’t do the tour at all because of the unavailability of the guide. This made no reference to our previous communications. I subsequently got a message to say they would refund me and I would get the money in a few days. That was over a week ago and I’m still waiting. I am disgusted with the whole episode. The tour was to be a birthday which made it even more disappointing. I would never use them again.

1.00I was disappointed by the tour. We arrived early to the location listed on Viator. The guides told us this was the incorrect location and we had to walk an additional 10 minutes to the actual start location. Our guide didn’t show up until 30 minutes after our initial start time. I felt this was inconvenient and inconsiderate of my family’s time and overall led to a poor experience.

1.00Very hard to rate a visit that was cancelled. Being asked to review this trip is just adding insult to injury. Very disappointed as was one of reasons for going to Seville

3.00The Alcazar with its gardens is wonderful, it is a must-see excursion! Our guide, Mercedes is very knowledgeable and nice, but the downside of this tour is that it takes place in the afternoon and is merged with the more complete one with morning visits to the Cathedral... Moral: the group you join is already tired and tried, as is the guide, and can't wait to rest! This involves, for those like me who participate in the Alcazar visit alone, quick and hasty explanations... too bad! I would advise the organizer to keep the 2 excursions separate, which require time and freshness!

5.00I loved it. When I went to see an alcazar I expected something more austere, like a fortress... I didn't expect what I found. But without a doubt, the best thing was the experience with the guide, Álvaro (Civitatis) It is not the typical guide that gives you the sheet of the pull and already. He made us partakers all the time and the way he explained the story had me hooked all the way. I would certainly repeat any route with Álvaro as a guide.
