The origin of the Real Alcazar of Seville dates from the time of the High Middle Ages, although some areas of Islamic art that impress with its delicacy are preserved. In any case, Mudejar art and Gothic style predominate, but Renaissance and Baroque elements were added later.
Over the centuries, it has been the residence of the members of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville. Even today, it remains for the exclusive use of royalty, except for tourist visits.
This complex includes many wonderful features. The quaintest is the Patio de las Doncellas, with its ponds that reflect the intricate mudéjar plasterwork for which this palace is known for.

5.00Excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. Worth every penny Remember to have coverage for head from heat to explore beautiful gardens. It was too hot for us and unfortunately had to cut garden section short because not enough shade for us personally. Should have brought hats

5.00Our tour of the alcázar was great. Easy to find the meeting point, and our guide Ismael was incredible. So knowledgeable and added lots of humor to the tour. The palace is spectacular and the tour guide only added to it.

4.00I would still recommend this tour but there was a lot of wasted time, firstly for other guests and then the tour guide himself who was running late from a previous tour. We actually entered the queue for admission 35 mins after the start of the tour. We still got the full tour but finished late. The guide was knowledgeable enough but the architecture, as stunning as it is, is similar from one room to another and we felt that we missed out on understanding how the buildings were used or lived in. It was fine but not that engaging or interesting and a more human or relatable explanation would have been welcome. Maybe nothing is known so this might be a bit harsh and to hold the attention of 29 people is not easy but we have done many tours and this was not one of the best. I know reviews are important but I really didn’t need to get a 5 min talk at the end about scanning a QR code and entering over 100 words finishing with the guides name so his boss is impressed. The architecture is stunning but with overlapping information from other tours I didn’t come away having learnt anything new.
